AML Jobs for Freshers 2026 guide by Brolly Academy

Quick answer

Freshers usually enter AML (anti money laundering) through KYC analyst, client onboarding, L1 alert review and AML process associate roles, which ask for any graduate degree, good written English and Excel, and pay a starting range of roughly ₹3.4 to ₹4.3 lakh a year according to AmbitionBox (October 2026). True 0 to 1 year AML openings are fewer than the search results suggest. Most bank and Big Four AML roles we read on 24 October 2026 asked for 1 to 3 years or more, and most "AML fresher" results were BPO and recruitment-agency posts. So your plan should be: learn the basics, build proof of skill, target the real entry roles, and grow into transaction monitoring and investigations after your first year.

  • Entry roles: KYC analyst, CDD (customer due diligence) or onboarding analyst, L1 transaction monitoring or screening analyst, AML process associate
  • Eligibility seen in listings: "any graduate" in most; commerce or finance preferred in some
  • Fresher pay: AmbitionBox estimates ₹3.4–3.7 lakh a year for an AML KYC analyst at 0–1 year, and shows ₹3.8–4.3 lakh at 1–3 years (October 2026)
  • What gets you hired: basic AML and KYC rules, Excel, clear case writing and a resume that uses job-description words
  • Time to job-ready: about 90 days of focused part-time study and applications

Key takeaways

  1. On 24 October 2026, Naukri showed about 75 results for "aml fresher" and 96 for "kyc fresher", and most were BPO or agency posts, so read every listing before you apply.
  2. Real fresher entry points do exist, such as a Deutsche Bank AML monitoring and screening role open to 0–3 years and a Wise FinCrime operations role marked "Entry level" on LinkedIn.
  3. Certifications such as CAMS are listed as "good to have" in job descriptions, not as entry requirements, so a low-cost IIBF certificate plus practical skills is enough to start.
  4. Your first job is usually KYC or L1 alert review. Transaction monitoring L2, investigations and quality roles come after one to three years.
  5. Never pay anyone for a job offer. Paying for training is a choice; paying for a "guaranteed" placement or a joining fee is a warning sign.

1. AML jobs for freshers at a glance

Short answer: Four role families take most freshers in AML: KYC and onboarding, L1 alert review in transaction monitoring, sanctions and PEP screening, and AML operations or process associate roles in service firms.

New to the field? AML is the set of laws and checks that stop criminals from passing off crime money as clean money. Our anti money laundering guide covers the basics, the three stages and India's rules. In short, under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), banks and other regulated financial firms must verify customers, keep records and report to FIU-IND, so every one of them needs people to do this work. This post focuses only on getting your first job.

A few terms first, because job listings use them without explaining:

  • KYC (Know Your Customer): checking who a customer is with identity and address documents
  • CDD and EDD: customer due diligence, and enhanced due diligence for high-risk customers
  • Alert: a flag raised by monitoring software when a transaction matches a rule
  • False positive: an alert that turns out to be normal activity
  • L1, L2, L3: levels of review. L1 does the first check, L2 investigates escalated cases, L3 handles the most complex cases and reporting decisions
  • STR: a suspicious transaction report filed with FIU-IND, India's Financial Intelligence Unit (called a SAR in the US and UK)
  • PEP: a politically exposed person, such as a senior politician or official, who needs extra checks
  • Sanctions: government lists of people, firms and countries you cannot deal with
Entry role What you do every day Where we saw it (24 Oct 2026) Typical ask KYC analyst or KYC associate Check documents, verify identity and ownership, fill KYC profiles, flag gaps Muthoot Finance "KYC freshers only" (Bengaluru), Incedo "Kyc Associate" 0–2 years (Gurugram) Any graduate, English, attention to detail L1 transaction monitoring analyst Review alerts, check account history, close false positives or escalate Deutsche Bank AML monitoring and screening role, 0–3 years (Jaipur/Bengaluru) Bachelor's degree, Excel Sanctions and PEP screening analyst Review name matches against sanctions and PEP lists, discount or escalate Wise FinCrime Operations Analyst, "Entry level" (Hyderabad) Interest in sanctions, clear notes AML process associate Work AML review cases in a service firm, write case notes, meet quality and SLA targets Guidehouse Process Associate (Greater Hyderabad) Bachelor's degree "in any streams"

Each entry role is about checking facts, following a procedure and writing down why you decided. That is the skill set to show.

2. What the fresher job market really looks like

Short answer: AML hiring in India is large, but true fresher openings are a small share of it, so freshers compete for fewer seats and must look beyond the "fresher" keyword.

Here are the keyword-match counts we saw on 24 October 2026. These are search results, not a count of open AML jobs. They change daily, include duplicates and pull in loosely related roles.

Search (India) Results shown Source "aml" 16,323 Naukri "kyc aml" 14,972 Naukri "aml fresher" 75 Naukri "kyc fresher" 96 Naukri "AML" 3,000+ LinkedIn

Three things stand out.

First, the fresher searches are tiny compared with the overall AML searches. Most AML listings ask for experience. In the job descriptions we read, operations roles mostly asked for 1 to 6 years, and true 0 to 1 year roles were a small minority.

Second, the "aml fresher" results on Naukri were mostly BPO voice and non-voice processes and training or placement agencies, not banks. The "kyc fresher" page mixed one fresher KYC/AML listing from a training firm, Muthoot Finance's "KYC freshers only" role in Bengaluru and Incedo's "Kyc Associate" role in Gurugram with sales, collections and voice jobs.

Third, many listings marked "1 to 3 years" or "0 to 3 years" still hire freshers who can show skill. Deutsche Bank's AML monitoring role is listed as "NCT to Associate" (NCT stands for new career talent) for 0 to 3 years. So do not filter yourself out of every 0 to 2 year listing.

3. Entry roles freshers can target

Short answer: Start where the work is most procedural, in KYC and onboarding or L1 alert review, because these roles train you on the rules and the case-writing habits every later AML role needs.

KYC analyst, CDD analyst and client onboarding analyst

This is the most common first job. You collect and check documents, verify the customer and the people who own or control a company, assign or check a risk rating and complete the KYC file. In India, banks follow the RBI's Commercial Banks KYC Directions, 2025, updated as on 1 October 2026 (RBI, October 2026). Global banks' centres in India often do KYC for overseas clients, so you also see US and EU terms.

Wipro's "Analyst (KYC/AML)" listing in Gurugram, for 1 to 4 years, lists client onboarding, KYC and CDD reviews, account maintenance, document verification and data validation, with KYC, AML, CDD, EDD and PEP as key skills (Wipro on Naukri, October 2026). That is a good picture of what a KYC desk does.

L1 transaction monitoring analyst

Monitoring software raises alerts on transactions. As an L1 analyst, you open each alert, look at the customer profile and recent activity, and decide whether it is a false positive or needs escalation. The Deutsche Bank listing for 0 to 3 years describes reviewing APAC transaction monitoring alerts at L1, closing or escalating them, and supporting quality checks and audits. It names Actimize, Fircosoft and Mantas as platforms (Naukri, October 2026).

Sanctions and PEP screening analyst

Screening tools match customer and payment names against sanctions and PEP lists. Most matches are false positives, such as a common name. You decide which matches are real. Wise's FinCrime Operations Analyst role in Hyderabad, marked "Entry level" on LinkedIn, involves reviewing sanctions screening matches and AML alerts, analysing account activity, keeping up with OFAC, EU and UK sanctions and documenting the reason for each decision (Wise on LinkedIn, October 2026). The job description calls it a role for building foundational expertise.

AML process associate in a service firm

Consulting and managed-service firms run AML reviews for banks and fintechs. Guidehouse's Process Associate listing in Greater Hyderabad covers end-to-end AML investigation reviews for retail banking or crypto clients, open-source research, written case narratives, and productivity, quality and SLA (service level agreement) targets. It asks for a bachelor's degree "in any streams" (Guidehouse on LinkedIn, October 2026).

Roles that are not usually entry level

Some titles sound junior but are not. Interactive Brokers' "AML Analyst I" in Mumbai asked for 3 to 5 years. Guidehouse's Hyderabad walk-in for KYC, AML and TMS roles asked for 2 to 6 years and L2 alert investigation. AML investigator, quality assurance, team lead and Actimize or NetReveal developer roles also need experience. Apply to them after your first one to three years.

4. Eligibility: what listings ask freshers for

Short answer: Most listings ask for any graduate degree, strong written English, Excel, comfort with shifts and accuracy; finance or commerce helps but is rarely mandatory, and certifications are listed as a plus.

Requirement What we saw in listings (24 Oct 2026) What it means for you Degree "Any graduate" at Deutsche Bank, Wipro, Guidehouse and Northern Trust; "graduate and above preferably in finance" at State Street B.Com, BBA, BA, B.Sc, B.Tech and MBA graduates can all apply Batch A fresher agency listing asked for 2022 to 2026 pass-outs, commerce preferred, with BA and B.Sc graduates with excellent English also allowed Recent graduates are welcome; older gaps need a clear story English Written case narratives at Guidehouse and Wise; documented decision rationale Your writing sample matters as much as your degree Excel Asked in most listings; "advanced MS Excel" at State Street Learn filters, pivot tables, lookups and basic formulas Domain basics RBI KYC/AML guidelines in an Indian fresher listing; FATF and sanctions as nice to have at Guidehouse Learn the core rules before your interview Certifications ACAMS, ICA, CFE or CFCS listed as "good to have" or "a plus" Helpful, not required at entry level Shifts Night shifts if required (State Street), rotational or client-aligned shifts (Guidehouse), US shift in BPO banking listings Expect shifts if you work for overseas clients Accuracy 99% minimum quality at State Street; productivity, quality and SLA targets at Guidehouse Show that you are careful and consistent

What about work from home? The listings we read named office locations, and only one senior role said hybrid. Treat "KYC work from home for freshers" ads with care, especially if they come through messaging apps (see section 10).

5. AML fresher salary: what to expect

Short answer: Expect about ₹3.4 to ₹4.3 lakh a year in your first year or two as a KYC or AML analyst, based on AmbitionBox data from October 2026, with clear jumps as you move into monitoring and investigations.

AmbitionBox shows typical ranges from self-reported salaries. It does not show reported figures for 0 to 1 year for most AML titles, so read this table carefully.

Role (India) Experience band Typical range Basis (AmbitionBox, October 2026) AML KYC Analyst 0–1 year ₹3.4–3.7 lakh "AmbitionBox Est.", an estimate, not reported salaries AML KYC Analyst 1–3 years ₹3.8–4.3 lakh 385 salaries KYC Analyst 1–3 years ₹3.8–4.2 lakh 4.1k salaries Transaction Monitoring Analyst 1–3 years ₹4.2–4.7 lakh 309 salaries AML Analyst 1–3 years ₹4.5–4.9 lakh 1.3k salaries

Sources: AmbitionBox AML KYC Analyst (updated 18 October 2026) and AmbitionBox KYC Analyst (updated 23 October 2026), plus the AmbitionBox Transaction Monitoring Analyst and AML Analyst pages (updated 21 and 22 October 2026).

In Hyderabad, AmbitionBox showed ₹3.9–4.3 lakh for KYC analysts and ₹3.9–4.4 lakh for AML analysts at 1 to 3 years (183 AML analyst salaries, October 2026).

A safe summary: AmbitionBox's lowest reported band, 1 to 3 years, was about ₹3.8 to ₹4.9 lakh a year for KYC and AML analysts in October 2026. Pay rises with skills such as investigations, sanctions and data work. For ranges by city and by level, see our AML analyst salary in India guide.

6. Skills to build in 30, 60 and 90 days

Short answer: Spend the first 30 days on AML and KYC basics, the next 30 on case work and Excel, and the last 30 on a portfolio, a certificate and interview practice.

Days 1 to 30: the foundations

Learn the words and the rules that every interviewer checks.

  • The three stages of money laundering: placement, layering and integration
  • Common typologies: structuring, mule accounts, shell companies, trade-based laundering
  • KYC basics: officially valid documents, beneficial ownership, risk rating, PEPs, re-KYC
  • India's framework: the PMLA 2002, FIU-IND and the RBI KYC Directions
  • Key numbers from official sources (see the table below)
Rule What it says Source Cash Transaction Report (CTR) Cash transactions above ₹10 lakh, or connected cash transactions in a month adding up to more than ₹10 lakh, reported by the 15th of the next month FIU-IND FAQs, October 2026 Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) No minimum amount; filed promptly and not later than 7 working days after the entity is satisfied a transaction is suspicious FIU-IND FAQs, October 2026 Beneficial owner (company) Any natural person holding more than 10% of shares, capital or profits, or who controls it RBI Commercial Banks KYC Directions, 2025, October 2026 Periodic KYC updation At least every 2 years for high-risk, 8 years for medium-risk and 10 years for low-risk customers RBI Commercial Banks KYC Directions, 2025, October 2026 Record keeping Transaction records kept for 5 years; identity records for 5 years after the relationship ends FIU-IND FAQs, October 2026

This post is education, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the current Act, the latest RBI or FIU-IND notification, or a lawyer before you rely on any rule for a real case.

Days 31 to 60: case work and Excel

Now practise the job itself.

  • Take sample bank statements and mark the red flags: cash just below thresholds, money in and out quickly, sudden activity in a dormant account, many small credits from unrelated people
  • Write a short case narrative for each one: who the customer is, what happened, why it is unusual, what you checked and what you recommend
  • Practise Excel on a transaction file: filters, sorting, pivot tables by customer and month, lookups to match names, and conditional formatting for amounts above a limit
  • Do a few mock sanctions checks: compare a list of names against a sample list and write why each match is true or false

Days 61 to 90: proof, certificate and interviews

  • Build a small portfolio of three to five written case studies and one Excel analysis you can show or describe
  • Consider the IIBF Certificate Examination in AML/KYC. The fee listed on the IIBF website is ₹1,100 for IIBF members and ₹1,600 for non-members per attempt, plus GST (IIBF website, October 2026)
  • Prepare answers to 30 to 40 common interview questions and two or three scenario cases
  • Apply every week and track each application

Should freshers do CAMS? CAMS from ACAMS is the best-known global AML certification, but eligibility is credit-based and it is most useful once you have some AML experience. Job listings we read treat it as "good to have", not a must.

7. Where to find AML fresher roles

Short answer: Use job portals with the right keywords, check company career pages of banks and service firms that run AML operations in India, watch for new-talent and walk-in drives, and read every listing to filter out mislabelled posts.

Job portals: search smarter

The word "fresher" alone hides many good roles. Search these terms on Naukri, LinkedIn and other portals, then filter by 0 to 2 years:

  • KYC analyst, KYC associate, client onboarding analyst
  • AML analyst, AML operations analyst, FinCrime operations analyst
  • Transaction monitoring analyst, alert review, screening analyst
  • Financial crime compliance analyst, CDD analyst

Companies that had entry-friendly listings

These are listings we saw on 24 October 2026, not hiring promises. Openings come and go every week.

Company Listing Location Experience asked Deutsche Bank AML Monitoring & Screening Control Support, NCT to Associate Jaipur/Bengaluru 0–3 years Wise FinCrime Operations Analyst, AML Investigations Hyderabad LinkedIn "Entry level" Muthoot Finance KYC freshers only Bengaluru 0 years Incedo Kyc Associate Gurugram 0–2 years TP International KYC & AML Analyst Chennai 1–3 years Wipro Analyst (KYC/AML) Gurugram 1–4 years Genpact AML/KYC Specialist Bengaluru 1–6 years

The 1 to 3 and 1 to 4 year listings are worth trying if you have training, case studies and an internship or project to discuss.

Bank new-talent programmes, walk-ins and BPO/KPO compliance processes

Some global banks label entry hires with their own programme names, such as Deutsche Bank's "NCT" (new career talent). Look for words like graduate, new associate or analyst trainee on bank and service-firm career pages.

Watch for walk-in drives too. Guidehouse ran a "Mega Walk in Drive" in Hyderabad for KYC, AML and TMS roles with a walk-in date of 24 October, though it asked for 2 to 6 years. Keep an eye on such drives once you have even a short stint of relevant work.

BPO and KPO firms also run banking and compliance processes. Some are real KYC or AML back-office work, but many "AML fresher" posts turn out to be voice or US banking support processes. They can be a stepping stone; just know what you are joining.

Read the job, not the tag

Accenture had a "Business Advisory New Associate" listing in Hyderabad for 0 to 1 year, tagged "Compliance (CaaS) - Anti-Money Laundering (AML)". The job text, however, described Trust and Safety content moderation. Tags and titles can mislead. Run five checks on every listing:

  1. Tasks: KYC reviews, alert review, screening, case narratives or STR support. Only calls or sales means it is not an AML analyst job.
  2. Experience: 0 to 2 years is your zone; try 1 to 3 years if you have strong proof of skill.
  3. Shift: look for night, US or rotational shift notes and transport support.
  4. Employer: confirm the actual bank or firm if an agency posted it.
  5. Keywords: copy terms such as KYC, CDD, EDD, PEP, sanctions and World-Check into your resume where they are true for you.

8. Resume tips with 6 sample bullets

Short answer: Keep it to one page, lead with an AML summary and skills that match the job, and turn your training, projects and internships into action-plus-result bullets.

Show what an AML team can use, not adjectives like "hardworking". A simple structure:

  1. Header: name, city, phone, email, LinkedIn
  2. Summary: two lines naming the role you want and your key AML and KYC skills
  3. Skills: KYC, CDD, EDD, PEP and sanctions screening, red flag analysis, case narratives, Excel (pivot tables, lookups), basic SQL
  4. Projects and training: your case studies and Excel analysis
  5. Education and certificates: degree, IIBF AML/KYC if done
  6. Internships or work: any customer, banking, data or back-office work, described in AML terms

Sample bullets (fictional examples; the numbers are illustrative, use your own true figures):

  • Reviewed 40 sample customer files for KYC completeness and beneficial ownership, and flagged 9 files with missing or mismatched documents
  • Analysed a 2,000-row sample transaction file in Excel with pivot tables and lookups, and identified 6 accounts showing structuring patterns below the ₹10 lakh cash threshold
  • Wrote 12 case narratives for practice transaction monitoring alerts, each stating facts, red flags, checks done and a close or escalate recommendation
  • Screened 150 sample names against a practice sanctions and PEP list and documented the reason for each true or false match
  • Completed a capstone on an end-to-end AML case, from onboarding and risk rating to alert review and a draft suspicious transaction report
  • Handled 60 customer queries a day in a banking support process with a 98% quality score, following verification steps for every call

Our AML analyst resume guide has full sample resumes and 40 more bullet examples.

9. Interview prep summary

Short answer: Fresher AML interviews test the basics, your judgement on a simple case, your Excel comfort and your communication, usually across an HR round, a technical or operations round and sometimes a written test.

What they ask

Area Typical questions What a good answer shows Basics What is money laundering? What are the three stages? KYC vs AML? You know the core terms in plain words KYC and CDD What documents do you check? Who is a beneficial owner? When do you apply EDD? You know the procedure and the reason behind it Indian rules What is an STR? What is the CTR threshold? What does FIU-IND do? You can quote the key numbers correctly Scenario A student account gets 30 small credits and one large debit the same day. What do you do? You spot red flags, check facts and escalate calmly Tools and Excel How would you find repeat amounts in a transaction file? You can name filters, pivot tables and lookups HR Are you fine with night or rotational shifts? Why AML? You are realistic and committed

How to answer a scenario question

Use a simple five-step pattern: state the red flags, say what you would check (KYC profile, past activity, linked accounts, adverse media), state your decision (close or escalate), explain why, and say what you would write in the case note. Never say you would tell the customer about a suspicious report. Tipping off is not allowed.

For 70 questions with model answers, a quick revision table and a 7-day prep plan, use our AML interview questions guide.

10. Red flags: pay-for-placement and fake AML fresher jobs

Short answer: A real employer never asks you to pay for a job, an offer letter, a "security deposit" or training before joining; treat any such request as a scam.

Freshers are easy targets because they want a first break fast. Watch for these warning signs:

  • Joining fee or deposit: anyone who asks for money to release an offer letter, "verify documents" or book an interview slot
  • Guaranteed job for a fee: promises of a sure job at a named bank if you pay. Training institutes can offer placement assistance, but no one can guarantee a bank hires you
  • Offers without interviews: a "selected" message after a short chat on a messaging app
  • "KYC verification work from home": tasks like rating apps, verifying random IDs or doing "KYC tasks" for pay, which often turn into requests for your own money or bank details
  • Requests for your bank account or OTP: some fake jobs recruit people as money mules, the exact crime AML teams investigate. Lending your account can put you on the wrong side of the law
  • Personal email IDs and no company address: real employers use company domains and official career pages
  • Title and task mismatch: an "AML analyst" job whose description is all calls and sales

If something feels wrong, stop, verify the company on its official careers page, and report fraud on the government's cybercrime portal.

Paying for a course is a separate choice. If you choose one, judge it by the syllabus, trainer, practice work and fee clarity, not by placement promises.

11. Your 90-day plan to land an AML fresher job

Short answer: Follow a week-by-week plan: learn in weeks 1 to 4, practise in weeks 5 to 8, and build proof and apply in weeks 9 to 13, starting applications by week 6.

Weeks Focus Output by the end 1–2 AML basics, three stages, typologies, key terms One-page notes in your own words 3–4 KYC, CDD, EDD, PEPs, PMLA, FIU-IND reports, RBI KYC rules A rules cheat sheet with the key numbers 5–6 Red flags and case narratives on sample statements Five written case notes 6 Resume and LinkedIn using JD keywords Resume v1 and an updated LinkedIn headline 7–8 Excel on transaction data, sanctions matching practice One Excel analysis and a screening log 9–10 IIBF AML/KYC preparation, mock interviews Exam booked or taken; 30 answers practised 9–13 Apply to 10 to 15 relevant roles a week, follow up An application tracker with dates and status 11–13 Scenario practice, interview feedback, resume v2 Stronger answers and a sharper resume

Track three numbers each week: applications sent, replies and interviews. If you get no replies after three or four weeks, fix your resume. If you get interviews but no offers, practise scenarios and English.

Frequently asked questions

Can a fresher get a job in AML?

Yes, a fresher can get a job in AML, usually as a KYC analyst, onboarding analyst, L1 alert reviewer or AML process associate. True 0 to 1 year openings are fewer than the search results suggest, because most bank roles ask for 1 to 3 years. Freshers who learn the basics, practise case notes and Excel, and apply to 0 to 2 year roles have a real chance.

What are the entry-level jobs in AML?

The main entry-level AML jobs are KYC analyst or associate, CDD or client onboarding analyst, L1 transaction monitoring analyst, sanctions and PEP screening analyst, and AML process associate in a service firm. All of them involve checking facts against a procedure and writing down the reason for each decision. Investigator, quality and team lead roles come later.

What qualification is needed for AML jobs for freshers?

Most AML and KYC listings ask for any graduate degree. Some prefer commerce or finance, such as State Street, and one fresher agency listing preferred B.Com, BBA, M.Com or MBA while allowing BA and B.Sc graduates with excellent English. Beyond the degree, employers look for written English, Excel skills, basic KYC and AML knowledge and accuracy.

What is the salary of an AML fresher in India?

AmbitionBox estimates ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh a year for an AML KYC analyst with 0 to 1 year of experience, and labels this an estimate rather than reported salaries. At 1 to 3 years, reported ranges were about ₹3.8 to ₹4.3 lakh for AML KYC analysts and ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh for AML analysts (AmbitionBox, October 2026).

What is the salary for KYC jobs for freshers?

AmbitionBox showed ₹3.8 to ₹4.2 lakh a year for KYC analysts in India with 1 to 3 years of experience, based on 4.1k salaries in October 2026. It does not show a reported band for 0 to 1 year, but its estimate for an AML KYC analyst at that stage is ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh a year.

How do I start a career in AML with no experience?

Start by learning the three stages of money laundering, KYC and CDD rules, PMLA and FIU-IND basics and common red flags. Then practise writing case notes on sample statements and build Excel skills. Add a low-cost certificate such as IIBF AML/KYC, tailor your resume with job-description keywords, and apply to KYC and L1 alert review roles every week.

Is AML a good career for freshers?

AML can be a good career for freshers because banks and regulated financial firms must run AML checks under the PMLA, and entry roles accept any graduate. Early work can be procedural and target-driven, with shifts. If you build investigation, writing and data skills, you can move into transaction monitoring, investigations, quality and compliance roles with clearly higher pay.

Is KYC a good career?

KYC is a good starting point, especially for graduates without banking experience. It teaches you identity checks, beneficial ownership, risk rating and documentation, which every AML role uses. Many people start in KYC and move into transaction monitoring or investigations after one to three years. At 1 to 3 years, AmbitionBox showed higher ranges for transaction monitoring and AML analysts than for KYC analysts (October 2026).

How many AML fresher jobs are there in India?

There is no reliable count of AML fresher jobs. On 24 October 2026, Naukri showed about 75 results for "aml fresher" and 96 for "kyc fresher", but most were BPO voice processes, sales roles and agency posts rather than bank AML roles. Many genuine entry roles are listed as 0 to 3 or 1 to 3 years instead.

Which companies hire AML freshers?

On 24 October 2026 we saw entry-friendly AML and KYC listings from Deutsche Bank (0 to 3 years), Wise in Hyderabad (marked entry level), Muthoot Finance in Bengaluru (KYC freshers only) and Incedo in Gurugram (0 to 2 years). These were listings seen on that date, not hiring promises, and openings change every week.

Are there AML jobs for freshers in Hyderabad?

Yes, but they are few. In October 2026, Wise listed a FinCrime Operations Analyst role in Hyderabad marked entry level, and Guidehouse listed a Process Associate role for AML investigation reviews in Greater Hyderabad. AmbitionBox showed about ₹3.9 to ₹4.4 lakh a year for Hyderabad AML analysts at 1 to 3 years.

Do I need CAMS to get an AML job as a fresher?

No. In the job descriptions we read, CAMS and similar certifications were listed as good to have or a plus, not as requirements for entry roles. CAMS eligibility is credit-based and it is most useful once you have some AML experience. Freshers usually start with practical skills and a low-cost certificate such as the IIBF AML/KYC exam.

Which certificate should a fresher take for AML?

The IIBF Certificate Examination in AML/KYC is a practical first choice for freshers in India. The IIBF website lists the fee as ₹1,100 for members and ₹1,600 for non-members per attempt, plus GST (October 2026). Plan CAMS later, after you have AML work experience and meet its credit-based eligibility.

Can I get an AML job with a B.Com degree?

Yes. B.Com graduates fit AML and KYC roles well because they understand accounts, statements and basic finance. Most listings accept any graduate, and some prefer commerce. Add KYC and AML rules, case-writing practice and Excel skills, and target KYC analyst, onboarding and L1 alert review roles first.

Can engineering graduates get AML jobs?

Yes. Most AML listings accept any graduate, so B.Tech and BCA graduates can apply. Your data skills are an advantage: Excel and SQL help in alert review and monitoring work. Learn the AML basics and red flags first, target L1 monitoring roles, and consider AML technology roles such as Actimize or NetReveal work after gaining experience.

Are AML jobs work from home for freshers?

Rarely. The AML listings we read named office locations, and only one senior role said hybrid. Be careful with "KYC verification work from home" ads, especially on messaging apps, because fake task-based jobs often end with requests for your money, bank details or OTP. Verify any offer on the company's official careers page.

Do AML jobs have night shifts?

Many do, because Indian teams often serve overseas clients. In October 2026, State Street mentioned night shifts if required, Guidehouse mentioned rotational or client-aligned shifts, and BPO banking listings mentioned US shifts. Ask about the shift pattern and transport support in your interview so you can decide with clear expectations.

What skills do AML freshers need?

AML freshers need basic knowledge of money laundering stages, typologies, KYC and CDD rules, PEP and sanctions checks, and Indian reporting rules such as STRs and CTRs. They also need Excel skills like filters, pivot tables and lookups, clear written English for case narratives, attention to detail and the habit of documenting every decision.

What does an L1 AML analyst do?

An L1 AML analyst does the first review of alerts raised by monitoring or screening software. You check the customer's profile and recent activity, decide whether the alert is a false positive, and close it or escalate it to L2 with a clear note. Deutsche Bank's 0 to 3 year role, for example, involves L1 review of APAC transaction monitoring alerts.

What should a fresher AML resume include?

A fresher AML resume should include a short summary naming the target role, a skills list with KYC, CDD, EDD, PEP and sanctions screening, red flag analysis and Excel, and project bullets from case studies or training. Write each bullet as action plus result, use your own true figures, and copy job-description keywords where they honestly apply.

What questions are asked in AML fresher interviews?

Expect questions on what money laundering is, the three stages, KYC versus AML, beneficial ownership, when to apply EDD, what an STR is and the CTR threshold. Most interviews add a short scenario, such as a student account with many small credits and one large debit, plus Excel and shift questions in the HR round.

What is an STR and how fast must it be filed?

An STR is a suspicious transaction report filed with FIU-IND, India's Financial Intelligence Unit. FIU-IND says there is no minimum amount, and the report must be filed promptly and not later than 7 working days after the reporting entity is satisfied that a transaction is suspicious. The customer must never be told about it.

How can I spot fake AML fresher job offers?

Treat any request for a joining fee, security deposit or payment for an offer letter as a scam. Other warning signs are offers without interviews, personal email IDs, tasks like paid "KYC verification" from home and requests for your bank account or OTP. Verify the company on its official careers page and report fraud on the government's cybercrime portal.

How long does it take to get an AML job as a fresher?

With focused part-time study, most freshers can become job-ready in about 90 days: four weeks of basics, four weeks of case work and Excel, and the rest on a certificate, portfolio and applications. Job offers then depend on how many relevant roles you apply to each week and how well you handle scenario questions.
