About Network Security Training
Network security decides which systems may communicate, how those connections are protected and what evidence is available when something looks wrong. A firewall is only one part of the answer. Good design combines asset knowledge, sensible boundaries, identity, monitoring and controlled changes.
This course is a vendor-neutral security path rather than a complete CCNA, firewall-vendor or penetration-testing certification program. The practical lab may use virtual appliances and prepared traffic. Confirm the exact platform before enrolment.
Use CISA network hardening guidance alongside the relevant modules. The practice examples on this page are original teaching scenarios, not claims of vendor approval or live client work.
Who Should Join?
TCP/IP, addressing, DNS, routing and basic switching knowledge are recommended. Network support engineers, administrators and security learners can use these foundations to understand the security decisions in each module.

Network Security Syllabus: 8 Practical Modules
Each module connects a concept to an exercise and an output you can explain. Work through the foundations before attempting the integrated project.
1. Network assets and traffic requirements
Draw a small business network with users, servers, management access and external services. Identify which communications are actually needed. Build an asset and flow inventory before proposing security controls.
2. Trust boundaries and segmentation
Separate user, server and management zones in a lab design. Explain how traffic crosses each boundary and which controls enforce it. A VLAN label alone is not proof that access between systems is restricted.
3. Firewall policy and rule review
Translate a business requirement into a narrow permitted flow. Review rule order, unnecessary exposure and logging. Test an allowed connection and a blocked one, recording why each result is expected.
4. Secure remote access
Compare protected remote-connectivity requirements, identity checks and device considerations. Review VPN and encrypted-channel concepts without assuming that a tunnel grants trust to every connected device. Document permitted access after connection.
5. Detection and traffic analysis
Use synthetic packet captures and network events to distinguish normal and suspicious behaviour. Discuss IDS and IPS roles and limitations. Record visibility gaps, encrypted-traffic constraints and the need for supporting context.
6. Wireless and device management
Review secure management paths, firmware support, authentication and wireless configuration at a defensive level. Separate guest access from protected resources. Keep administrative interfaces away from unnecessary public exposure.
7. Change control and troubleshooting
Plan a network-security change with a rollback path and service-owner checks. Diagnose whether a problem is related to routing, naming, policy or application behaviour. Avoid broad allow rules as a permanent response to an unexplained failure.
8. Network security design and validation
Present the final lab diagram, access matrix, test results and monitoring plan. Record residual risks and operating responsibilities. Demonstrate that business traffic works while the intended isolation remains effective.

Practical Skills You Will Develop
Use the exercises to build an explanation as well as a result. You should be able to show what you did, how you checked it and where the limits are.
Firewall policy and rule reviewTranslate a business requirement into a narrow permitted flow.
Secure remote accessCompare protected remote-connectivity requirements, identity checks and device considerations.
Detection and traffic analysisUse synthetic packet captures and network events to distinguish normal and suspicious behaviour.
Wireless and device managementReview secure management paths, firmware support, authentication and wireless configuration at a defensive level.
Tools and Lab Requirements
Practice only on systems you own or have explicit permission to use. The course outline uses isolated labs and synthetic data. Agree the software versions, access period, hardware requirements and any licence or cloud charges before enrolling. Never upload employer logs, credentials or personal evidence to a public tool.
Virtual network labDiscuss the supported virtual firewall, routing environment and hardware requirements.
Wireshark and sample trafficAnalyse approved captures and document observations without intercepting unrelated traffic.
Access and change registersMaintain a diagram, permitted-flow matrix, rule rationale and rollback checklist.
Keep CISA ransomware prevention and recovery guidance available when checking an exercise. Use the instructions for your installed version and authorized access level.
Your Learning Roadmap
Build confidence in stages. Practice time and your starting knowledge matter as much as the number of scheduled sessions.
1. Set up and understandCheck the prerequisites and lab access. Complete the first two modules and explain the basic workflow in your own words.
2. Build and investigateWork through the middle modules. Keep notes of errors, what you tried and the evidence that supported a fix.
3. Test and presentComplete the final modules and an integrated scenario. Present your output, validation and a short handover guide.
3 Practical Project Scenarios
These are teaching scenarios using approved lab systems and synthetic data. They are not claims about live client work or previous student results.
Segmented office designBuild a fictional user/server/guest layout and document which flows are allowed.
Firewall policy reviewFind unnecessary rules in a training configuration and validate the safer intended policy.
Network visibility handoverUse a provided capture and log set to create an investigation note and monitoring improvement plan.
How the Skills Work in Practice
A guest network should reach an approved internet service but not the internal file server. Document both requirements before changing the firewall.
Verify the permitted path and the denied path after the change. If the file server remains reachable through another route, the segmentation objective has not been met even though the new rule looks correct.

Where These Skills Are Used
These skills support network security engineer, firewall support analyst, infrastructure security analyst. Employers combine technical knowledge with careful documentation, communication and responsible access. Your lab portfolio should show decisions, evidence and limitations, not claim that a training exercise was a live client engagement.
Interview and Portfolio Preparation
Prepare evidence you can discuss clearly. Label practice work as training work and do not present a teaching scenario as paid client experience.
Explain a projectDescribe the requirement, your decisions, the result and one limitation. Be ready to answer what you would change for a real deployment.
Show useful evidenceKeep approved files, test results and a concise README or runbook. Remove secrets and private information before sharing a portfolio.
Discuss support servicesAsk the academy which resume, mock-interview or job-search services are included in your batch. Placement assistance is not a job or salary guarantee.
Career Planning and Salary Expectations
Salary depends on the role, prior experience, location and the employer. A tool course alone does not establish a salary band. Compare recent job descriptions, required experience and responsibilities rather than relying on a headline income promise.
Meet the Trainer Through a Demo
Discuss the assigned trainer's relevant experience during a free demo. Ask how they would explain a practical network security problem and review your lab evidence.
Relevant experienceAsk for examples of work with Network Security that can be discussed without revealing confidential client information.
Practical explanationAsk the trainer to explain a failure scenario and how a learner would investigate it, rather than only showing a finished result.

Call +91 81868 44555Network Security Training FAQs
Do I need CCNA certification first?
The certificate is not required, but comparable networking knowledge is helpful. Be comfortable with addressing, routing, DNS and common protocols.
Is this a firewall-vendor certification course?
No. It is a network-security learning path. Confirm the lab vendor and discuss a separate certification plan if you need a specific credential.
Does a VLAN automatically provide security?
No. Segmentation also depends on routing, access controls and their correct enforcement. Test the paths that should be denied.
What is the difference between IDS and IPS?
An IDS primarily identifies and alerts on suspicious activity, while an IPS can take blocking action in its configured path. Both need tuning, context and operational care.
Will I capture live company traffic?
The course uses approved synthetic or provided captures. Capturing production traffic needs explicit authorization and privacy controls.
What should a network-security project include?
An asset diagram, traffic requirements, access rules, successful and denied tests, monitoring notes and a rollback plan.
What are the course fee and duration?
Contact Brolly Academy for the current batch quotation and timetable. Confirm instructor-led hours, practice time, lab access, taxes and any separate licence or exam charges in writing.
What certificate will I receive?
Ask for the Brolly Academy completion requirements and certificate wording for your batch. Course completion is separate from an independent vendor examination; no external credential or exam voucher is implied.
