Quick answer
The typical AML analyst salary in India is about ₹5.8 to ₹6.4 lakh a year for people with 1 to 7 years of experience, according to AmbitionBox in October 2026. Pay starts lower and climbs with experience. AmbitionBox's lowest reported band, 1 to 3 years, was about ₹3.8 to ₹4.9 lakh a year for KYC and AML analysts. AML analysts with 6 to 9 years reported about ₹8.4 to ₹9.4 lakh. City, employer type, job level and skills such as investigations and sanctions all move the number.
- AML analyst, India (1 to 7 years): ₹5.8 to ₹6.4 lakh a year (AmbitionBox, 3.3k salaries, October 2026)
- KYC analyst, India (1 to 6 years): ₹4.5 to ₹5 lakh a year (8.8k salaries)
- AML analyst, Hyderabad (1 to 7 years): ₹4.7 to ₹5.2 lakh a year (494 salaries)
- AML manager, India (6 to 14 years): ₹10.9 to ₹12.1 lakh a year (only 40 salaries, a small sample)
- Fresher (0 to 1 year): only an AmbitionBox estimate exists, about ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh a year for AML KYC analysts
Key takeaways
- AML analyst pay in India roughly doubles from the 1 to 3 year band to the 6 to 9 year band, based on AmbitionBox data from October 2026.
- Moving from L1 alert review into L2 investigations, financial crime roles or a specialist area is the clearest way to earn more.
- Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune show higher typical AML analyst ranges than Hyderabad and Chennai, but Hyderabad's financial services employers pay well above the city average.
- Certifications such as CAMS appear in job descriptions as "good to have" or "a plus", not as an entry requirement, so build skills first.
- Treat every salary figure as a guide. AmbitionBox data is self-reported, and some role pages are based on fewer than 100 salaries.
1. AML analyst salary at a glance
Short answer: Across AML job titles in India, typical ranges on AmbitionBox in October 2026 ran from about ₹4.4 lakh a year for AML KYC analysts to about ₹12.1 lakh a year for AML managers, with the core AML analyst role at ₹5.8 to ₹6.4 lakh.
An AML analyst is the person who checks customers and their transactions for signs of money laundering, decides whether activity is suspicious, and writes up the case. AML stands for anti-money laundering. If you are new to the field, start with our guide to anti money laundering, which explains the basics, the laws and the main processes.
Here is the whole salary picture in one table. Each figure is the "typical salary range" AmbitionBox showed to logged-out visitors when we checked on 24 October 2026.
Three quick lessons from this table:
- KYC roles pay a little less than AML monitoring roles. KYC (Know Your Customer) work checks who a customer is. Monitoring and investigation work checks what the customer does with money, and it pays a bit more.
- "Financial crime" and "senior" titles sit higher. Broader roles and senior titles show ranges about ₹0.4 lakh to ₹0.5 lakh above the core analyst range.
- Leadership pay is a real step up, but data is thin. The manager and compliance officer pages are based on 40 to 60 salaries each, so read them as a rough signal only.
2. How to read these salary numbers
Short answer: AmbitionBox ranges are self-reported salaries grouped into a "typical" band, so they show what most people in a role earn, not the lowest or highest offers. Check the sample size and experience range before you compare any two numbers.
Salary data for AML jobs in India comes mostly from employee-reported sites. We used AmbitionBox because it shows sample sizes and update dates for each role and city. Keep these points in mind:
- It is a typical range, not an average. Logged-out visitors see a band where most reported salaries fall. The exact average and top-earner figures sit behind a login, so we do not quote them.
- Sample size matters. A range based on 3,300 salaries is far more reliable than one based on 40. We mark every page with fewer than 100 salaries as a small sample.
- Experience ranges differ by role. The AML Analyst page covers 1 to 7 years, while the AML Manager page covers 6 to 14 years. Compare like with like.
- Many salaries come from BPO employers. In Bengaluru alone, AmbitionBox listed 834 AML analyst salaries from the BPO industry, at ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh a year (October 2026). That pulls the overall typical range down compared with banks and financial services firms.
- Salary is annual CTC. CTC (cost to company) includes items such as provident fund. Your monthly take-home pay is lower. See section 10 for a rough monthly conversion.
We do not use salary figures that we could not verify. For example, AmbitionBox had no working profile for sanctions analysts when we checked, and Glassdoor India showed no figures to logged-out visitors. Where a number is missing, we describe the trend in words.
3. AML analyst salary by experience
Short answer: On AmbitionBox in October 2026, AML analysts in India reported about ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh a year at 1 to 3 years, ₹5.9 to ₹6.6 lakh at 3 to 6 years and ₹8.4 to ₹9.4 lakh at 6 to 9 years.
Experience is the single biggest driver of AML pay. Here is how the main AML analyst role grows across India, as listed on the AmbitionBox AML Analyst page (October 2026).
The same page says average AML analyst salaries grew about 20% over the last two years, from 2024 to 2026 (AmbitionBox, October 2026).
How related roles grow with experience
The pattern is similar for other AML job titles. This table compares four common roles across the same three bands (AmbitionBox, October 2026).
Sample sizes behind these bands: KYC Analyst 4.1k, 4.3k and 328; Transaction Monitoring Analyst 309, 465 and 37; Senior AML Analyst 68, 293 and 160; Financial Crime Analyst 418, 467 and 64. The 6 to 9 year figures for transaction monitoring and financial crime rest on small samples.
What about 5 years of experience?
People often search for "AML analyst salary for 5 years experience". Five years falls in the 3 to 6 year band. On AmbitionBox in October 2026, that band was ₹5.9 to ₹6.6 lakh a year for AML analysts, ₹5.7 to ₹6.2 lakh for transaction monitoring analysts and ₹6.6 to ₹7.3 lakh for financial crime analysts. If you have moved into L2 investigations or a senior title by year five, you are more likely to sit at the top of these bands.
4. AML analyst salary for freshers
Short answer: There is no reported AmbitionBox band for AML freshers. Its only 0 to 1 year figure is an estimate of about ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh a year for AML KYC analysts, and its lowest reported band, 1 to 3 years, was about ₹3.8 to ₹4.9 lakh a year for KYC and AML analysts (October 2026).
Freshers want one number, but the honest answer needs two:
- The estimate: The AmbitionBox AML KYC Analyst page showed ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh a year for 0 to 1 year, labelled "AmbitionBox Est.", which means it is an estimate rather than reported salaries (October 2026).
- The first reported band: At 1 to 3 years, AmbitionBox showed ₹3.8 to ₹4.2 lakh for KYC analysts, ₹3.8 to ₹4.3 lakh for AML KYC analysts and ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh for AML analysts (October 2026).
Why fresher roles are harder to find than the numbers suggest
On 24 October 2026, Naukri showed about 9,311 results for "aml analyst" across India, but only about 75 results for "aml fresher". These are keyword-match counts that include duplicates and loosely related roles, not a count of open AML jobs. Most "AML fresher" results that day were BPO and recruitment-agency posts. Bank and Big Four AML roles usually asked for 1 to 3 years or more.
True entry-level roles do exist. On 24 October 2026, Wise listed a FinCrime Operations Analyst (AML Investigations) role in Hyderabad marked "Entry level" on LinkedIn, and Deutsche Bank listed an AML monitoring and screening role for 0 to 3 years in Jaipur and Bengaluru.
For a full plan to land your first role, read our guide to AML jobs in India, which covers job titles, employers and how to apply.
5. AML salary by job title and level
Short answer: Pay rises as you move from KYC and L1 alert review into L2 investigations, specialist work and team leadership. On AmbitionBox in October 2026, typical ranges went from about ₹4.5 lakh for KYC analysts to about ₹12.1 lakh for AML managers.
AML teams are usually organised in levels:
- L1 (Level 1): first-line review. You look at an alert, which is a flag raised by monitoring software, and decide whether it is a false positive (a harmless match) or needs escalation.
- L2 (Level 2): deeper investigation of escalated alerts. You follow the money, research the customer and write a case narrative that can support a suspicious transaction report (STR).
- L3 (Level 3): complex cases, quality checks, final decisions and team guidance.
Here is how common titles map to work and pay.
Investigator and manager bands, with caution
AmbitionBox also showed experience bands for two senior titles, both on tiny samples (October 2026):
- AML Investigator: ₹3.7 to ₹5.6 lakh at 1 to 3 years (27 salaries), ₹5.3 to ₹7.3 lakh at 3 to 6 years (37) and ₹6.9 to ₹10.1 lakh at 6 to 9 years (16).
- AML Manager: ₹9 to ₹9.9 lakh at 6 to 9 years (10 salaries), ₹10.7 to ₹11.8 lakh at 9 to 12 years (19) and ₹13.4 to ₹14.8 lakh at 12+ years (8).
With fewer than 40 salaries in each band, use these only to see the direction of travel. Senior pay at global banks may differ a lot from these figures.
What about sanctions analysts?
Sanctions screening means checking customer names and payments against government sanctions lists, such as those issued by the UN, the US (OFAC), the EU and the UK. AmbitionBox did not have a working sanctions analyst salary profile when we checked, so we cannot give a verified range. What we can say is that sanctions knowledge appeared often in job descriptions we read on 24 October 2026, from the Wise entry-level role in Hyderabad to Interactive Brokers in Mumbai.
6. KYC analyst salary in India
Short answer: The typical KYC analyst salary in India was ₹4.5 to ₹5 lakh a year for 1 to 6 years of experience, based on 8.8k salaries on AmbitionBox in October 2026, rising from about ₹3.8 lakh at 1 to 3 years to about ₹7 lakh at 6 to 9 years.
KYC analysts are the largest group in AML operations. They verify identity documents, identify beneficial owners (the real people who own or control a company), rate customer risk and refresh customer files. Many people start here and move into monitoring or investigations within two or three years.
Source: AmbitionBox KYC Analyst page (India, linked in section 1) and its Hyderabad KYC Analyst page, October 2026.
KYC analyst vs AML analyst pay
At every experience band, AmbitionBox showed AML analysts slightly ahead of KYC analysts in October 2026. At 1 to 3 years the gap was about ₹0.7 lakh at both ends of the range. By 6 to 9 years it was about ₹2 lakh or more. The reason is the work. KYC work follows set checklists. AML monitoring and investigation work asks for more judgement, writing and analysis, which employers pay for.
You will also see EDD (enhanced due diligence), the extra checks done on high-risk customers such as PEPs (politically exposed persons, meaning people who hold or held important public positions, and their close relatives and associates). KYC analysts who handle EDD and complex corporate structures are closer to AML pay than those doing only basic document checks.
7. AML analyst salary by city
Short answer: In October 2026, AmbitionBox showed the highest typical AML analyst ranges in Pune (₹5.5 to ₹7.1 lakh, small sample), Mumbai (₹5.5 to ₹6.1 lakh) and Bengaluru (₹5.5 to ₹6 lakh), followed by Chennai (₹5 to ₹5.5 lakh) and Hyderabad (₹4.7 to ₹5.2 lakh).
AML jobs in India cluster in cities with large bank operations centres, global capability centres (GCCs, the in-house offshore units of global firms) and consulting firms. Here is what AmbitionBox showed for the AML Analyst role (1 to 7 years) in each city.
City pay by experience
Source: AmbitionBox city pages for the AML Analyst role, October 2026. All Pune bands are small samples (39, 25 and 27 salaries). The Hyderabad 6 to 9 year band rests on 54 salaries.
Two things stand out. First, starting pay is fairly similar across cities, roughly ₹3.9 to ₹5.1 lakh at 1 to 3 years. Second, the gap widens with experience. Bengaluru and Pune show much higher 6 to 9 year bands, which likely reflects more senior and specialist roles there. City matters less early in your career than the type of employer and the work you do.
8. AML salary in Hyderabad
Short answer: AmbitionBox showed a typical AML analyst salary of ₹4.7 to ₹5.2 lakh a year in Hyderabad (494 salaries, October 2026), but AML analysts at Hyderabad financial services firms reported ₹6.7 to ₹7.4 lakh a year.
Hyderabad's overall AML figure looks lower than other big cities. Look one level deeper and the picture changes.
The financial services figure is about ₹2 lakh higher than the city average. In other words, where you work in Hyderabad matters more than the city itself.
On 24 October 2026, Naukri showed about 798 keyword-match results for "aml analyst" in Hyderabad, though the first page already mixed in non-AML roles. Firms such as State Street, JPMorganChase, Grant Thornton's US shared services centre, Guidehouse, Citco and Macquarie had AML or KYC listings in Hyderabad that month. Our guide to AML jobs in Hyderabad lists the companies, roles and a local job-search plan in detail.
9. Salary by company type and industry
Short answer: Banks' captive centres, global financial services firms and consulting firms tend to pay more for AML work than BPO and IT-services operations. The clearest sourced example is Hyderabad, where AML analysts in financial services reported ₹6.7 to ₹7.4 lakh against a city-wide ₹4.7 to ₹5.2 lakh (AmbitionBox, October 2026).
AML analysts in India work for five main types of employer:
- Global banks' captive centres and GCCs run KYC, monitoring and investigations for the parent bank's customers worldwide. Examples with AML or KYC listings seen in October 2026 include State Street, JPMorganChase and Bank of America in Hyderabad, and Deutsche Bank and Northern Trust in Bengaluru.
- Financial services and fund administrators such as Citco and IQ-EQ handle KYC for funds and investors.
- Consulting and Big Four firms such as PwC, EY, Deloitte and Grant Thornton run AML reviews and remediation projects for clients.
- IT services and BPO firms such as Wipro, Genpact and TP run AML operations under contract for overseas banks.
- Fintechs and payment firms such as Wise and Tide hire AML investigators in Hyderabad.
We did not find verified company-wise salary data for all these firms, so we describe the differences in words:
- Captive centres and financial services firms can pay at the upper end of the AmbitionBox ranges, as the Hyderabad financial services figure suggests.
- BPO employers report a lot of AML salaries, and those cluster lower. In Bengaluru, AmbitionBox showed 834 AML analyst salaries from the BPO industry at ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh (October 2026).
- Consulting roles often involve client review projects and written reports, so compare offers on the full package and the level you join at.
- Fintechs may pay differently from banks, so compare the full offer, including variable pay and benefits.
A BPO role is still a good starting point. It gives you real alert and KYC experience, which you can use to move into a captive centre or consulting firm later.
10. AML analyst salary per month
Short answer: A ₹5.8 to ₹6.4 lakh annual CTC works out to about ₹48,000 to ₹53,000 a month before deductions. Your in-hand salary will be lower after provident fund, professional tax and income tax.
Many people search for monthly figures, so we have divided the AmbitionBox annual ranges by 12. These are gross monthly figures from our own arithmetic, not take-home pay.
Your actual take-home depends on how your employer splits CTC into basic pay, allowances, provident fund, variable pay and benefits. Always ask HR for the monthly in-hand figure before you sign.
11. What raises your AML salary
Short answer: Six things raise AML pay the most: moving into L2 investigations, adding sanctions and EDD skills, learning data tools such as Excel and SQL, building domain depth, earning a recognised certification once you have experience, and working shifts that carry an allowance.
1. Move from L1 review to L2 investigations
L1 analysts clear alerts. L2 analysts investigate them and write case narratives that support STRs. An STR is a suspicious transaction report filed with FIU-IND, India's Financial Intelligence Unit. FIU-IND's FAQs say an STR must be filed promptly and not later than 7 working days after the reporting entity is satisfied that a transaction is suspicious, and there is no minimum amount (FIU-IND, October 2026). This is general information, not legal advice, so check the current rules or a lawyer for any specific case. Analysts who write clear, defensible narratives move up faster. AmbitionBox's AML Investigator and Financial Crime Analyst ranges both sit above the KYC range (October 2026).
2. Add sanctions and EDD skills
Sanctions screening and enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers are specialist skills. Several job descriptions we read on 24 October 2026 asked for them. The Wise role in Hyderabad asked analysts to keep up with OFAC, EU and UK sanctions. The PwC Associate KYC and AML role in Bengaluru asked for CDD on banks, trusts, funds and SPVs, including source of funds and beneficial ownership. On 24 October 2026, Naukri showed only about 294 keyword-match results for "sanctions screening" in India, which suggests this is a narrower, more specialist area than general KYC work.
3. Learn Excel, SQL and AML tools
Most job descriptions we read asked for MS Excel. Some went further. A Bank of America AML analytics role in Hyderabad asked for R, Python, SAS and SQL. Deutsche Bank named Actimize, Fircosoft and Mantas, and State Street named World-Check. Analysts who can pull and analyse data are better placed for analytics and senior roles.
4. Build domain depth
Knowledge of a specific product area, such as correspondent banking, funds, trade finance, crypto or retail banking, makes you harder to replace. Guidehouse in Hyderabad listed AML investigation work on retail banking and crypto cases, and EY in Bengaluru listed a crypto investigations role, both in October 2026.
5. Add a certification at the right time
Certifications help, but timing matters. In the job descriptions we read, CAMS from ACAMS, ICA certificates, CFE and CFCS appeared as "good to have" or "a plus", not as must-haves. For example, State Street called ACAMS or ICA certificates good to have, and Interactive Brokers listed ACAMS, CFE and CFCS as a plus (October 2026). CAMS eligibility is credit-based, using education, work experience and AML training, so it is most useful once you have some AML experience. In India, the IIBF Certificate Examination in AML/KYC is a lower-cost foundation option. Our guide to CAMS certification explains eligibility, cost and whether it is worth it for you. We could not verify any data on how much a certification adds to salary, so we do not quote a figure.
6. Consider shift roles
Many AML operations teams support overseas banks, so they work outside Indian daytime hours. State Street's Hyderabad AML role asked for shift flexibility "including night shifts if required", and Interactive Brokers' Mumbai AML Analyst I role mentioned a shift allowance with pickup and drop depending on the shift (October 2026). Ask the recruiter what the allowance is worth, because it varies by employer and shift.
Quality and productivity also count
Appraisals in AML operations often depend on your numbers. State Street's JD set a minimum quality of 99%, and Guidehouse mentioned productivity, quality and SLA targets (October 2026). Consistently high quality scores are your best case for a raise or promotion.
12. How AML salary grows over 5 to 10 years
Short answer: A typical path runs from KYC or L1 analyst to L2 or senior analyst in 2 to 4 years, then to investigator, quality lead or team lead around years 5 to 7, and toward manager roles after about 8 to 10 years. AmbitionBox data from October 2026 shows AML analyst pay nearly doubling between the 1 to 3 year and 6 to 9 year bands.
Here is how pay tends to grow, described in words with the AmbitionBox bands as anchors (October 2026):
- Years 0 to 2: KYC analyst or L1 alert reviewer. You learn the processes and build accuracy. Pay sits in the lowest bands, around ₹3.8 to ₹4.9 lakh for most roles in the 1 to 3 year band.
- Years 2 to 4: L2 analyst or senior analyst. You handle escalated alerts and complex KYC files. Pay moves into the 3 to 6 year bands, about ₹5.9 to ₹6.6 lakh for AML analysts.
- Years 4 to 7: investigator, quality reviewer, specialist or team lead. You make case decisions, check others' work or own a specialist area such as sanctions. Specialist and investigator ranges reach roughly ₹7 to ₹8.5 lakh.
- Years 7 to 10: manager or senior specialist. You lead teams or own a process. AML analysts at 6 to 9 years reported ₹8.4 to ₹9.4 lakh, and AML managers reported ₹10.9 to ₹12.1 lakh (small sample).
- Beyond 10 years: senior leadership. Roles such as head of financial crime operations or compliance leadership exist, but we found too little verified salary data to quote numbers.
Demand for this work is steady because AML checks are a legal duty, not an option: under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA), banks and other reporting entities must verify customers, keep records and report to FIU-IND. Your growth will not follow a straight line. Switching employers, moving from BPO to a captive centre, or moving into investigations can each give a bigger jump than a yearly increment. To plan the path itself, read our guide to building an AML career.
13. How to negotiate your AML salary
Short answer: Know the market range for your exact title, level and city, show proof of your quality and skills, and negotiate the full package, including shift allowance, variable pay and your appraisal date, not just the fixed salary.
Use these steps before your next interview or appraisal:
- Find your band. Use the tables above to find the range for your title, experience and city. Match like with like. A KYC analyst at 2 years should compare with the KYC 1 to 3 year band, not the AML manager range.
- Know where you sit in the band. If you do L2 work, sanctions or EDD, you can argue for the upper end even if your title says "analyst".
- Bring evidence. Quality scores, productivity, cases handled, people trained and process improvements all count. Numbers beat adjectives.
- Name a range, not one number. Base it on the market data and your evidence, with your target near the bottom of the range you quote.
- Ask about the full CTC split. Fixed pay, variable pay, provident fund, shift allowance, transport and insurance can change your real income a lot.
- Ask when the first appraisal is. An early appraisal can be worth more than a small increase today.
- Use certifications as a bonus, not a demand. Mention a CAMS or IIBF plan as proof of commitment, but do not expect a fixed premium.
- Get the offer in writing. Confirm the figures, the role level and the shift pattern before you resign from your current job.

What is the AML analyst salary in Bangalore?
AmbitionBox showed a typical AML analyst salary of ₹5.5 to ₹6 lakh a year in Bengaluru, based on 637 salaries, in October 2026. By experience, it was about ₹4.1 to ₹4.5 lakh at 1 to 3 years, ₹5.6 to ₹6.2 lakh at 3 to 6 years and ₹7.8 to ₹10.3 lakh at 6 to 9 years.
What is the AML analyst salary in Chennai?

Which city pays AML analysts the most in India?
In October 2026, AmbitionBox showed the highest typical AML analyst range in Pune at ₹5.5 to ₹7.1 lakh a year, but that was based on only 90 salaries. Among cities with larger samples, Mumbai at ₹5.5 to ₹6.1 lakh and Bengaluru at ₹5.5 to ₹6 lakh led, followed by Chennai and Hyderabad.
What is the AML analyst salary for 5 years of experience?
Five years falls in AmbitionBox's 3 to 6 year band, which was ₹5.9 to ₹6.6 lakh a year for AML analysts in India in October 2026. Transaction monitoring analysts in the same band reported ₹5.7 to ₹6.2 lakh and financial crime analysts ₹6.6 to ₹7.3 lakh. L2 or senior work pushes you toward the top.

A typical AML analyst CTC of ₹5.8 to ₹6.4 lakh a year works out to about ₹48,000 to ₹53,000 a month before deductions. Your in-hand salary is lower after provident fund, professional tax and income tax. Always ask HR for the exact monthly take-home figure before you accept an offer.
What is the transaction monitoring analyst salary in India?
The typical transaction monitoring analyst salary in India was ₹5.4 to ₹6 lakh a year for 1 to 6 years of experience, based on 823 salaries on AmbitionBox in October 2026. It was about ₹4.2 to ₹4.7 lakh at 1 to 3 years, ₹5.7 to ₹6.2 lakh at 3 to 6 years and ₹7.1 to ₹8.5 lakh at 6 to 9 years.
What is the senior AML analyst salary in India?
The typical senior AML analyst salary in India was ₹6.2 to ₹6.8 lakh a year for 2 to 8 years of experience, based on 524 salaries on AmbitionBox in October 2026. At 6 to 9 years, senior AML analysts reported about ₹7.4 to ₹8.3 lakh a year. Senior analysts usually handle complex alerts, quality checks and mentoring.
What is the AML manager salary in India?
AmbitionBox showed a typical AML manager salary of ₹10.9 to ₹12.1 lakh a year in India for 6 to 14 years of experience in October 2026. This figure is based on only 40 salaries, so treat it as a rough signal. Managers with 12 or more years reported about ₹13.4 to ₹14.8 lakh, on a tiny sample.
What is the AML investigator salary in India?
The typical AML investigator salary in India was ₹5.6 to ₹7.1 lakh a year for 1 to 8 years of experience on AmbitionBox in October 2026. This range is based on only 77 salaries, so use it carefully. Investigators handle escalated cases end to end and write narratives that can support suspicious transaction reports.
Is an AML analyst salary higher than a KYC analyst salary?
Yes, slightly. At every experience band in October 2026, AmbitionBox showed AML analysts ahead of KYC analysts. At 1 to 3 years, AML analysts reported ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh against ₹3.8 to ₹4.2 lakh for KYC analysts. The gap grows with experience because AML work asks for more judgement and writing.

Generally, yes. Banks' captive centres and financial services firms tend to pay more than BPO operations. In Hyderabad, AML analysts in financial services reported ₹6.7 to ₹7.4 lakh a year against a city-wide ₹4.7 to ₹5.2 lakh. In Bengaluru, BPO-industry AML salaries were about ₹4.5 to ₹4.9 lakh (AmbitionBox, October 2026).
Does CAMS certification increase AML salary?
CAMS can help, but we found no verified data on how much it adds. In job descriptions read in October 2026, CAMS and other certifications appeared as good to have or a plus, not as requirements. CAMS eligibility is credit-based, so it is most useful once you have some AML experience. Skills and experience drive pay first.
Which skills increase AML analyst salary the most?
Moving into L2 investigations, writing strong case narratives, handling sanctions screening and enhanced due diligence, and using Excel and SQL raise AML pay the most. Domain depth in areas such as funds, trade or crypto also helps. Consistently high quality scores are your strongest argument in an appraisal or a job switch.
Do AML analysts get a shift allowance?
Some do. Many AML teams support overseas banks and work night or rotational shifts. Ask the recruiter what the allowance is worth.

Can a fresher get ₹5 lakh as an AML analyst?
It is possible but not typical. AmbitionBox's only 0 to 1 year figure was an estimate of ₹3.4 to ₹3.7 lakh for AML KYC analysts, and its 1 to 3 year band for AML analysts topped out at ₹4.9 lakh in October 2026. Higher fresher offers usually need strong skills, a good employer and some luck.
