PMP vs PRINCE2 2026: which certification to choose, Brolly Academy

Quick answer

PMP is an experience-based certification from PMI (Project Management Institute) that tests how you lead projects using predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, while PRINCE2 is a process-based project management method certified by PeopleCert, which you can start at Foundation level with no prerequisites. If you already lead projects and want a credential that employers across India, the Middle East and the US ask for, PMP is usually the stronger first pick. If you are new to project management, work with UK, European or Australian clients, or your organisation runs projects the PRINCE2 way, PRINCE2 Foundation is a quick and low-barrier start. Many senior project managers end up holding both.

  • PMP: issued by PMI, needs 3 to 5 years of project leadership (2 years with a GAC-accredited degree) plus 35 hours of training, 180 questions in 240 minutes
  • PRINCE2 Foundation: issued by PeopleCert, no prerequisites, 60 questions in 60 minutes, pass mark 60%
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner: needs a qualifying certificate (PMP is one of them), 150 minutes, open book
  • Renewal: both run on a 3-year cycle (60 PDUs for PMP, 60 CPD points for PRINCE2 Foundation)
  • Best pick: PMP for experienced managers in global and Indian IT roles; PRINCE2 for beginners and for UK-style, process-heavy environments

Key takeaways

  1. PMP proves that you have led real projects and can apply many approaches. PRINCE2 proves that you know one structured method and, at Practitioner level, can apply it.
  2. PMI updated the PMP exam in July 2026: People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%, with about 60% of questions on agile or hybrid work (PMI, July 2026).
  3. PRINCE2 Foundation has no entry rules at all, so it suits freshers and career switchers who cannot yet meet PMP's experience rule.
  4. An active PMP is accepted as a prerequisite for PRINCE2 Practitioner (PeopleCert, October 2026), so doing both is easier if you start with PMP.
  5. Pick by goal, not by hype: your target employers, your client geography and your years of experience decide the better choice.

1. What is PMP?

Short answer: PMP stands for Project Management Professional. It is a certification from PMI (Project Management Institute) that shows you have real experience leading projects and can manage people, process and business priorities across predictive, agile and hybrid ways of working.

PMI is a US-based global professional body for project managers. It publishes the PMBOK Guide (the current edition is the Eighth Edition, published in November 2025) and runs a family of certifications, including CAPM for beginners and PMP for experienced practitioners. If you want the full meaning of the acronym and a quick overview, read our PMP full form guide.

PMP is not a single method. It does not tell you "always follow these steps". It tests whether you can pick the right approach for a situation and lead a team through it. PMI's current PMP Examination Content Outline (PMI, July 2026) splits the exam into three domains:

Domain Weight (July 2026 outline) What it covers People 33% Building a shared vision, leading the team, managing conflict, engaging stakeholders Process 41% Planning and integrating the project, value-based delivery, scope, schedule, cost, risk Business Environment 26% Governance, compliance, benefits and the wider organisation

The same outline says about 40% of questions represent predictive (plan-based) approaches, and the remaining 60% are split between adaptive (agile) and hybrid approaches. In July 2026 PMI also added more on AI, sustainability and stakeholder engagement, and moved weight towards business outcomes. Business Environment rose from 8% to 26% in the new outline.

According to PMI's PMP page (October 2026), more than 1.7 million people hold the PMP, which PMI calls the world's most widely held project certification.

2. What is PRINCE2?

Short answer: PRINCE2 is a structured project management method, and the PRINCE2 certifications are issued by PeopleCert. The current version is PRINCE2 7, built on seven principles, seven practices and seven processes that take a project from start to close.

PeopleCert runs the PRINCE2 exams and issues the certificates. You may also see the AXELOS name next to PRINCE2, ITIL and MSP, because AXELOS is the best-practice brand that presents these frameworks on its website.

Where PMP asks "can you lead projects well in any approach?", PRINCE2 says "here is a clear method, with defined roles, stages and controls; learn it and tailor it". PeopleCert's PRINCE2 7 Foundation page (October 2026) describes the method like this:

  • Seven principles that guide project decisions and actions
  • Seven practices that cover aspects of project management you must handle throughout the project
  • Seven processes that give a step-by-step method for managing a project from initiation to closure
  • Version 7 additions: a stronger focus on people management, sustainability inside project performance, and digital and data management

PeopleCert's French-language Foundation page (October 2026) names the seven principles. In English they are continued business justification, managing by stages, managing by exception, defined roles and responsibilities, a focus on products, learning from experience and tailoring the method to the project. These ideas explain why PRINCE2 projects feel so controlled: a project board approves each stage, and the project manager only escalates when work goes beyond agreed limits.

PeopleCert says PRINCE2 7 training and certification became available worldwide from 4 September 2023, and describes PRINCE2 as a method that can be applied to any industry and any type of project.

3. The core difference: framework of knowledge vs a defined method

Short answer: PMP tests your knowledge and judgement across many approaches and requires proven experience. PRINCE2 teaches one prescriptive method with set roles, stages and documents, and its entry level needs no experience.

This is the single most important difference, so it is worth slowing down.

PMP is broad. It covers leadership, team building, conflict, stakeholder engagement, scheduling, budgeting, risk, quality, procurement, agile delivery, hybrid delivery, governance and compliance. It tells you what good practice looks like and asks you to choose the right action in a scenario. Much of the exam is about people and judgement.

PRINCE2 is structured. It focuses on how a project is governed and controlled: who decides what, when the project moves to its next stage, what each role is accountable for, and which management products (such as plans and reports) you create. It is lighter on "soft" topics such as motivating a team, although version 7 has added more on people.

A simple way to remember it:

Question PMP PRINCE2 What is it? A professional credential based on a body of knowledge and an exam outline A certification in a specific project management method Main focus Leading people, delivering value, choosing the right approach Governance, control, stages, roles and business justification Agile coverage Built in: about 60% of questions are agile or hybrid Handled through tailoring; PeopleCert describes PRINCE2 7 as compatible with Agile, Lean and ITIL Experience needed Yes, years of leading projects Not for Foundation

In real life the two fit together. Many teams use PRINCE2 for structure and governance, and use the people and delivery skills that PMP tests to actually run the work. That is why the debate is less "which is right" and more "which proves what my next employer needs".

If you are also comparing project roles with agile roles, our article on Scrum Master vs Project Manager explains how the two jobs differ day to day.

4. Certification levels in each path

Short answer: PMP is one credential within PMI's family, with CAPM as the entry-level option. PRINCE2 has two core levels: Foundation (entry) and Practitioner (applied).

PMI levels

  • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management): the entry-level PMI certification for people with no project experience. We compare it with PMP in section 11.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional): the main credential for experienced project leaders.
  • PMI also offers other specialist certifications, such as PMI-ACP for agile.

PRINCE2 levels

  • PRINCE2 Foundation: tests whether you know and understand the method. No prerequisites.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner: tests whether you can apply and tailor the method in a scenario. You need a qualifying certificate first.

The key point for comparison: PRINCE2 Foundation and CAPM sit at a similar entry stage, while PMP sits at the experienced level. Comparing PMP with PRINCE2 Foundation is a bit like comparing a senior licence with a learner's licence. PRINCE2 Practitioner is the closer match to PMP, but it still does not require years of experience the way PMP does.

5. Prerequisites and eligibility

Short answer: PMP requires years of project leadership experience within the last 10 years plus 35 hours of training. PRINCE2 Foundation has no prerequisites, and PRINCE2 Practitioner needs a qualifying certificate such as PRINCE2 Foundation or PMP.

PMP eligibility (July 2026 rules)

PMI changed the PMP eligibility rules with the July 2026 exam. The old "36 or 60 months of experience" rule has been replaced. According to the PMP Examination Content Outline (PMI, July 2026), you need non-overlapping experience leading projects within the 10 years before you apply:

Your education Experience leading projects (last 10 years) Secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent) 60 months (5 years) Associate's degree or vocational trade diploma 48 months (4 years) Bachelor's degree or equivalent 36 months (3 years) Bachelor's or postgraduate degree from a PMI GAC-accredited programme 24 months (2 years)

You also need at least 35 hours of project management training aligned to the exam outline. Books and practice exams alone do not count. An active CAPM gives you the 35-hour credit. From 1 December 2026, PMI counts live classes (in person or online) only if they are delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider or an eligible accredited academic programme. Self-paced on-demand courses from any organisation still count (PMI, October 2026). Training you completed before 1 December 2026 stays eligible under the current rules.

PMI can audit any application. If you are selected, you send copies of your degree, signatures from supervisors for the experience you listed, and certificates for your 35 hours (PMI Certification Handbook, June 2026). Our PMP certification eligibility guide walks through how to count your months.

PRINCE2 eligibility

So a PMP holder can go straight to PRINCE2 Practitioner, and so can a CAPM holder. That cross-recognition is a big reason the "do both" route is practical.

What this means for you

  • Fresher or student: PMP is not open to you yet. PRINCE2 Foundation or CAPM is your realistic start.
  • Developer, tester or BA who has led small projects or workstreams: check whether your work counts as "leading projects". If you have the months, PMP is within reach.
  • Experienced project manager: you can choose either path, and PMP usually carries more weight in Indian hiring.

6. Exam format compared

Short answer: The PMP exam is a long 4-hour scenario exam with 180 questions. PRINCE2 Foundation is a 1-hour, 60-question closed-book test, and PRINCE2 Practitioner is a 150-minute open-book scenario exam.

Feature PMP PRINCE2 Foundation PRINCE2 Practitioner Questions 180 (170 scored + 10 unscored pretest) 60 multiple choice 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks Time 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks 60 minutes 150 minutes Pass mark Not stated on the PMI pages we checked 60% 60% Book rule Closed book Closed book Open book Question style Case or scenario, graphic-based, multiple choice, multiple response, matching, hotspot and more Multiple choice Objective testing on scenarios Where Pearson VUE test centre (PMI recommends it) or online (OnVue) Booked through PeopleCert Booked through PeopleCert

PMP details come from PMI's July 2026 outline and PRINCE2 details from PeopleCert's Foundation and Practitioner pages (October 2026), both linked above.

A few details matter on exam day:

  • PMP breaks: the first break comes after the case-study section and the second about midway through the independent questions. Once you start a break, you cannot go back to the earlier section (PMI, July 2026).
  • PMP retakes: you can take the exam up to three times within your 1-year eligibility period. After three failed attempts you wait 1 year from the last attempt before you reapply for PMP.
  • PMP languages: PMI lists 15 exam languages, including English (PMI, October 2026).
  • PRINCE2 results: PeopleCert says official Foundation results arrive in 2 business days (October 2026).
  • PRINCE2 languages: the Foundation exam is offered in 14 languages, including English (PeopleCert, October 2026).

Which exam is harder?

Most candidates find PMP harder. It is four times longer than PRINCE2 Foundation, the questions are situational ("what should the project manager do next?"), and you must already have experience to apply. PRINCE2 Foundation is mostly about knowing the method's terms, principles, roles and processes. PRINCE2 Practitioner is harder than Foundation because you apply the method to a scenario under time pressure, even with the manual open.

7. Cost compared

Short answer: The PMP exam fee shown to Indian visitors on PMI's site is ₹27,406 for PMI members and ₹55,488 at full price. PeopleCert shows PRINCE2 prices on its UK site in pounds, with no rupee price displayed.

PMP cost

PMI's PMP page shows prices in your local currency. From India it showed (PMI, October 2026):

  • Member price: ₹27,406
  • Full price (non-member): ₹55,488

You pay the exam fee only after your application is accepted and you are ready to schedule. PMI members get up to 30% off certification, learning and events, plus free digital PMI standards, including the PMBOK Guide (PMI, October 2026). If you need to reschedule or cancel within 30 days of your appointment, the PMI Certification Handbook (June 2026) lists a fee of US$70 plus taxes, which is about ₹6,633 at the Wise mid-market rate (an estimate). Inside 48 hours of the exam you lose the full fee.

You also need 35 hours of training. Training prices vary widely between providers, so compare what is included before you pay. Our PMP certification cost guide breaks down the full cost for members and non-members.

PRINCE2 cost

PeopleCert's site showed these UK prices including VAT in October 2026. No rupee price was shown, so treat these as UK prices only:

PRINCE2 7 product Exam bundle eLearning eLearning+ Foundation £393.00 £947.00 £1,143.00 Practitioner £424.00 £1,019.00 £1,215.00 (includes a free exam retake)

In India, PRINCE2 is usually sold through accredited training providers as a bundle of course plus exam, and prices differ by provider. Ask for a written quote that lists the exam voucher, the official manual and any retake.

8. Validity and renewal

Short answer: Both run on 3-year cycles. PMP needs 60 PDUs and a renewal fee every 3 years. PRINCE2 Foundation needs 60 CPD points every 3 years, or you can renew by passing another exam in the same product suite.

PMP renewal

According to PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements Handbook (opened October 2026):

  • You earn 60 PDUs (professional development units) every 3 years.
  • At least 35 PDUs must be Education, with at least 8 each in Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen.
  • Up to 25 PDUs can come from Giving Back (for example volunteering or creating content).
  • Up to 20 PDUs earned in the last 12 months of a cycle can carry over to the next cycle.
  • The handbook lists a renewal fee of US$60 for PMI members and US$150 for non-members. That is about ₹5,685 and ₹14,213 at the Wise mid-market rate of about ₹94.75 per US dollar (22 October 2026). These are estimates, and the handbook carries a 2022 date, so check the current fee when you renew.
  • If you miss the requirements, your PMP is suspended for 12 months and you cannot use the title during that time.

PRINCE2 renewal

  • Foundation: renewal every 3 years with 60 CPD points, or pass an exam in another course from the same product suite before your renewal date (PeopleCert, October 2026).
  • Practitioner: PeopleCert's page says the certification is "subject to renewal" with 60 CPD points, or by passing another exam in the same product suite. The page does not state the renewal period in years.

The practical difference: PMP renewal is a structured points system with specific categories and a fee paid to PMI. PRINCE2 renewal is lighter, and you can also refresh it by taking another PeopleCert exam in the same family.

9. Recognition and demand

Short answer: PMP is the more widely held and widely requested project certification in India and the US-linked job market. PRINCE2 is strongest in the UK, Europe, Australia and organisations or clients that follow UK-style governance.

PMI says more than 1.7 million people hold the PMP (PMI, October 2026). PeopleCert describes PRINCE2 as a globally recognised method that can be used in any industry. We do not have a verified head-to-head count of how many Indian job ads ask for each one, so we will not invent one.

What you can do instead is check the job market yourself. Search a job portal for "PMP" and for "PRINCE2" in your city and read 20 job descriptions for your target role. You will notice patterns like these:

  • Indian IT services and GCCs (global capability centres) serving US clients often mention PMP, sometimes as "PMP or equivalent".
  • Roles serving UK, European or Australian clients, and public-sector style programmes, more often mention PRINCE2.
  • Many job ads list "PMP or PRINCE2" together, which means either one ticks the box for the screening stage.

Salary

We could not find a verified, like-for-like salary comparison of PMP holders and PRINCE2 holders in India, so treat any "PRINCE2 pays more" or "PMP pays more" claim online with care. PMI's own salary survey reports a pay premium for PMP holders across 21 countries (PMI, October 2026), but no equivalent PRINCE2 figure was verified.

10. PMP vs PRINCE2: side-by-side table

Short answer: Use this table to compare the two quickly. Each value comes from PMI or PeopleCert pages checked in October 2026.

Factor PMP PRINCE2 Issued by PMI (Project Management Institute) PeopleCert What it is Experience-based professional credential Certification in a defined project method Levels One credential (CAPM is PMI's entry option) Foundation and Practitioner Entry rule 2 to 5 years leading projects in the last 10 years, plus 35 hours of training Foundation: none. 11. Which should you choose? A goal-based guide

Short answer: Choose PMP if you already lead projects and want a widely recognised credential for Indian and global roles. Choose PRINCE2 Foundation if you are new, need a quick credential, or work in a PRINCE2 environment.

Choose PMP if

  • You have at least 3 years of experience leading projects (or the months that match your education level).
  • You work in, or want to join, Indian IT services, GCCs, BFSI, construction or consulting firms serving US and global clients.
  • You want to show leadership, stakeholder management and agile or hybrid delivery skills, not just one method.
  • You plan a long career as a project or programme manager and want the credential that is most often named in job ads.

Choose PRINCE2 if

  • You are a student, fresher or career switcher with no project leadership experience yet.
  • Your company, client or target country uses PRINCE2 (common with UK, European and Australian work).
  • You want a quick, lower-cost certification to show you understand structured project control.
  • You work in a PMO (project management office), governance or project support role where the method matters more than leadership depth.

Choose CAPM instead if

You are new to project management and plan to move to PMP later. CAPM is a PMI credential, an active CAPM counts towards PMP's 35 hours of training, and it is also accepted for PRINCE2 Practitioner. Our PMP vs CAPM comparison explains when CAPM is the better first step.

Quick decision table

Your situation Best first step Fresher or student PRINCE2 Foundation or CAPM Developer, tester or BA moving into project lead roles, under 3 years leading projects PRINCE2 Foundation now, PMP once eligible Project manager with 3+ years leading projects in Indian IT PMP Project manager working with UK or European clients PRINCE2 Practitioner, then PMP Senior PM or programme manager PMP, and add PRINCE2 Practitioner if clients ask for it

12. Doing both PMP and PRINCE2

Short answer: Doing both is common for senior project managers. The smartest order is usually PMP first, because an active PMP lets you go straight to PRINCE2 Practitioner without sitting Foundation.

The two certifications do not compete as much as online debates suggest. They complement each other:

  • PMP gives you breadth: leadership, people skills, agile and hybrid delivery, and business environment thinking.
  • PRINCE2 gives you structure: clear roles, stage gates, management by exception and a common vocabulary for project boards.

Recommended order

  1. If you are eligible for PMP now: take PMP first. Then, if your clients or employer need PRINCE2, go directly to PRINCE2 Practitioner, because PMP is on PeopleCert's list of accepted prerequisites (October 2026).
  2. If you are not yet eligible for PMP: take PRINCE2 Foundation (or CAPM) now to build your basics and your resume. Keep a log of the projects you lead. Apply for PMP once you meet the experience rule.

How to study for both without double work

  • Learn the PMP concepts first: stakeholder engagement, risk, schedule, cost, agile and hybrid delivery.
  • When you move to PRINCE2, focus on what is unique to it: its seven principles, defined roles, management by stages and management by exception.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between PMP and PRINCE2?

PMP is an experience-based credential from PMI that tests how you lead projects across predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. PRINCE2 is a certification in one structured project method, issued by PeopleCert. PMP focuses on leadership, people and judgement, while PRINCE2 focuses on governance, stages, roles and control. PMP needs years of project leadership, but PRINCE2 Foundation has no prerequisites.

Which is better, PMP or PRINCE2?

Neither is better for everyone. PMP is usually the stronger choice for experienced project managers in India, the US and global IT services. PRINCE2 suits beginners, people working with UK, European or Australian clients, and organisations that run projects the PRINCE2 way. Decide based on your experience, your target employers and the clients you serve.

Is PMP or PRINCE2 better in India?

For most Indian project managers, PMP is the more useful credential because it is widely named in job ads from IT services firms and global capability centres. PRINCE2 is valuable if you work on UK, European or Australian accounts or in governance-heavy programmes. Many job ads list "PMP or PRINCE2", so either can pass the screening stage.

Is PRINCE2 easier than PMP?

Yes, PRINCE2 Foundation is generally easier than PMP. Foundation has 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, while PMP has 180 scenario-based questions in 240 minutes and needs prior experience to apply. PRINCE2 Practitioner is tougher than Foundation because you apply the method to a scenario in 150 minutes, though it is open book.

Is PRINCE2 equivalent to PMP?

No, they are not equivalent. PRINCE2 certifies knowledge of a specific method, and Foundation needs no experience. PMP certifies proven project leadership across several approaches and requires years of experience. Some employers accept either one for screening, which is why job ads often say "PMP or PRINCE2", but they measure different things.

Who issues PMP and who issues PRINCE2?

PMI, the Project Management Institute, issues the PMP. PeopleCert issues the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner certifications. You may also see the AXELOS name with PRINCE2, because AXELOS is the best-practice brand that presents PRINCE2, ITIL and MSP. Each body sets its own exams, prices and renewal rules.

Can a fresher do PMP or PRINCE2?

A fresher cannot do PMP because it requires 2 to 5 years of experience leading projects, depending on education. A fresher can do PRINCE2 Foundation, which has no prerequisites, or PMI's CAPM. Both are realistic first steps. Once you build enough project leadership experience, you can move up to PMP.

What are the PMP eligibility rules in 2026?

From July 2026, you need experience leading projects within the last 10 years: 60 months with secondary education, 48 months with an associate's or vocational diploma, 36 months with a bachelor's degree, or 24 months with a GAC-accredited degree. You also need 35 hours of training aligned to the exam outline, or an active CAPM.

Does PRINCE2 Practitioner need PRINCE2 Foundation?

Not always. PeopleCert accepts several prerequisites for PRINCE2 Practitioner, including PRINCE2 7 Foundation, older PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner certificates, PMP, CAPM, PPQ, PMQ, IPMA Levels A to D, and CSPM-2 or CSPM-3. So if you already hold PMP or CAPM, you can go straight to Practitioner.

What is the PMP exam format?

The PMP exam has 180 questions, of which 170 are scored and 10 are unscored pretest questions. You get 240 minutes with two 10-minute breaks. Questions include case or scenario items, graphic-based items, multiple choice and multiple response. You can take it at a Pearson VUE test centre or online.

What is the PRINCE2 Foundation exam format?

The PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam has 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. It is closed book and the pass mark is 60%. PeopleCert offers it in 14 languages, including English, and says official results arrive in 2 business days. There are no prerequisites, so anyone can book it.

What is the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam format?

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks. You get 150 minutes and need 60% to pass. It is open book and uses objective testing based on scenarios, so you must apply and tailor the method rather than only recall terms.

How much does PMP cost compared to PRINCE2?

PMI's site shows Indian visitors a PMP exam fee of ₹27,406 for members and ₹55,488 at full price. PeopleCert's UK site lists PRINCE2 7 Foundation exam bundles at £393 and Practitioner at £424, including VAT, with no rupee price shown. Training costs vary by provider for both.

How long are PMP and PRINCE2 valid?

Both work on a 3-year cycle. You keep PMP active by earning 60 PDUs every 3 years and paying a renewal fee. PRINCE2 Foundation needs 60 CPD points every 3 years, or you can pass another exam in the same product suite. PeopleCert's Practitioner page says it is subject to renewal but does not state the period.

How do you renew PMP?

You earn 60 PDUs in each 3-year cycle. At least 35 must be Education PDUs, with at least 8 each in Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen, and up to 25 can come from Giving Back. PMI's handbook lists a renewal fee of US$60 for members and US$150 for non-members.

How do you renew PRINCE2?

For PRINCE2 Foundation, you renew every 3 years by recording 60 CPD points, or by passing an exam from another course in the same PeopleCert product suite before your renewal date. PRINCE2 Practitioner also renews through 60 CPD points or another exam in the suite, though PeopleCert's page does not give the period in years.

Does PMP cover agile while PRINCE2 does not?

PMP covers agile heavily, with about 60% of questions on agile or hybrid approaches in the July 2026 outline. PRINCE2 is a structured method that you tailor to your project, and PeopleCert describes PRINCE2 7 as compatible with Agile, Lean and ITIL. So both can work in agile settings, but PMP tests agile far more directly.

Which should I do first, PMP or PRINCE2?

If you already meet PMP's experience rule, do PMP first. An active PMP is accepted as a prerequisite for PRINCE2 Practitioner, so you can skip Foundation later. If you are not yet eligible for PMP, start with PRINCE2 Foundation or CAPM, keep a record of the projects you lead, and apply for PMP once eligible.

Is it worth doing both PMP and PRINCE2?

It is worth it if your work needs both. PMP shows broad leadership and delivery skill, while PRINCE2 shows you can run projects inside a formal governance method. Senior managers working with UK, European or Australian clients often benefit most. If your employers only ask for PMP, one certification may be enough.

Do PMP holders earn more than PRINCE2 holders?

There is no verified, like-for-like salary comparison for PMP and PRINCE2 holders in India. PMI's own salary survey reports a pay premium for PMP holders across 21 countries, but no equivalent PRINCE2 figure was verified. Your experience, industry, city and role usually shape your pay more than the certificate alone.

What changed in the PMP exam in July 2026?

PMI updated the PMP exam in July 2026. The new weights are People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%, up from 8% for Business Environment. The exam now adds AI, sustainability and stakeholder engagement in scenarios, and focuses more on outcomes and value. Eligibility now uses a 10-year experience window.

What is new in PRINCE2 7?

PRINCE2 7 keeps seven principles, seven practices and seven processes, and adds a stronger focus on people management, sustainability within project performance, and digital and data management. PeopleCert says PRINCE2 7 training and certification became available worldwide from 4 September 2023.

Can I take the PMP exam online from India?

You can take the PMP exam online through OnVue or at a Pearson VUE test centre, though PMI recommends the test centre. PRINCE2 exams are booked through PeopleCert, which also issues the certificates.
