Start with employer career pages and employer-posted listings, then check the exact location, experience and application route. The India jobs table below covers early-career and experienced examples checked on 9 October 2026. It is a dated research guide, not a live vacancy feed or a guarantee that a position remains open.
New to the title? Read what a forward deployed engineer does. Ready to apply? Start with the application checklist.
Compare six India job examples, separate graduate pathways from experienced vacancies, prepare a focused resume and portfolio, and follow a clear application checklist. Each employer example links to the source so you can check its latest status.
Forward deployed engineer jobs in India: source-linked examples
These six advertisements displayed a role description and application route when checked on 9 October 2026. Read the source again before applying. The table summarises eligibility, not an invitation from Brolly Academy to apply on an employer’s behalf.
| Employer and source | Location / arrangement | Experience shown | Work and skills to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peakflo – FDE | India / remote within India | Card: 1+ years; body: 0.5-2 years. Clarify the difference. | Python backend, SQL, AI/ML and delivery; a relevant technical degree is requested. |
| Pulsora – FDE India | Hyderabad; confirm work arrangement | 3-7 years in relevant customer-facing technical roles | Enterprise integrations, Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL and AI applications. Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience. |
| TechUp Labs – FDE | Remote India; Eastern Time preference | 2 years | Python, APIs, backend automation and customer problem-solving. Confirm required overlap hours. |
| Chat360 – FDE | Gurgaon, in office | 1 year | Coding, AI applications, integrations and customer-facing prototype-to-production work. |
| Alpha Nodus – FDE | Bengaluru, in office; US-hour overlap | 6+ software years, including 3+ customer-facing years | TypeScript/Node.js, AWS, PostgreSQL and production integrations; delivery after a sale. |
| Supervity – Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Sales & Strategy) | Mumbai, on-site | No numeric years threshold verified; production coding is expected | Client architecture and implementation with sales engineering; Python or TypeScript, GCP and containers. |
Choose by fit, not by company name. Compare mandatory requirements before preferred tools. A role asking for one year is not automatically a zero-experience fresher opportunity. A role with no visible years field is not automatically junior.

Graduate and overseas opportunities: keep eligibility separate
International postings can show a different entry route or scope of work. They should not be mixed into an India shortlist without checking country, work permission, relocation and office expectations.
| Primary employer source | What was visible | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Palantir open positions | Forward Deployed Software Engineer new-graduate and internship titles; new-graduate commercial examples in London, New York, Chicago and Seoul. | Evidence that graduate pathways exist. Check each exact vacancy; this does not establish an India opening or your work-authorisation eligibility. |
| OpenAI – Seattle FDE | 5+ years of engineering or technical-deployment experience; Seattle hybrid work with three office days and travel up to 50%. | An experienced overseas reference for customer-to-production delivery, not an Indian fresher vacancy. |
Use overseas roles in one of two ways: as an actual application target when you meet the stated conditions, or as a reference for future skills. Keep those categories separate in your tracker. Do not assume that a remote option elsewhere in a company applies to the particular job you selected.
Search titles without confusing different kinds of work
Begin with the employer’s exact title. Search both Forward Deployed Engineer and Forward Deployed Software Engineer; add Forward Deployed AI Engineer when AI application delivery is your focus. The abbreviation FDE is useful, but the full phrase reduces unrelated results.
| Search phrase or title | What to inspect before shortlisting |
|---|---|
| Forward Deployed Engineer / Forward Deployed Software Engineer | Customer discovery, maintained code, integration and deployment responsibilities. |
| Forward Deployed AI Engineer | Whether the work involves application delivery, evaluation and customer use, rather than model research alone. |
| Customer Engineer / Implementation Engineer | How much coding, system integration and release ownership the role includes. |
| Solutions Engineer / Sales Engineer | Whether the role ends at a demo or continues through implementation and support. |
| Deployment Engineer / DevOps Engineer | Whether deployment means infrastructure and release pipelines rather than customer-facing application engineering. |
Try specific combinations such as forward deployed engineer India, forward deployed engineer Hyderabad or forward deployed engineer remote India. Search within a chosen employer’s careers page as well as on a job board. These are search suggestions, not claims that every query currently has suitable vacancies.
Read the responsibilities before treating adjacent titles as equivalent. Our FDE versus software engineer comparison explains the ownership differences in more detail. Save only roles whose actual work interests you; collecting every result creates a large list without a useful next action.
Location, remote work and availability checks
Remote does not mean work from any country or at any hour. A person in Hyderabad may be able to apply to a remote-India role, but the job’s employing location, working hours and eligibility still control that decision.
- Confirm the permitted work location. Distinguish India-wide remote, a particular city, and overseas remote.
- Check attendance. Ask whether office days, onboarding visits or customer-site travel are required.
- Clarify working hours. Get the expected overlap window rather than relying on a general flexible-work statement.
- Check the engagement. Employee and contractor arrangements can have different expectations; ask what is offered.
- Confirm availability. Follow the current application route and note a closing date when one is shown.
A useful source-reading example is LiteLLM’s India-titled YC listing: its title says India, while its role card displayed Remote (US) and US citizen/visa restrictions when checked. We therefore excluded it from the verified India table. Ask the employer to resolve conflicting fields; do not assume the title overrides the conditions.
Record the exact role URL or job ID. The employer may have several similarly named openings at different levels. A reply about one vacancy should not be treated as approval for another.
Read responsibilities before counting tools
| Verb in the posting | What to investigate | Evidence you could show |
|---|---|---|
| Discover or scope | How ambiguous the starting problem is. | A customer brief and a record of scope decisions. |
| Build or integrate | Whether you own maintained code. | An application with APIs, tests and setup instructions. |
| Deploy or operate | Who handles releases and failures. | A deployment checklist, monitoring and recovery exercise. |
| Evaluate | How quality is measured before release. | A versioned evaluation set and an honest results report. |
| Enable or drive adoption | Whether users receive training and follow-up. | A runbook, user guide and feedback process. |
| Influence product | How field experience becomes reusable improvements. | A retrospective separating a one-off workaround from a general capability. |
A list of ten frameworks does not answer these questions. You should be able to describe the responsibility behind each tool you mention.
Separate essential requirements from useful additions
Highlight wording such as required, must have and preferred. Then check whether the advertisement explains acceptable alternatives. A missing preferred framework may be a learning gap; a required location or professional-experience threshold may be an eligibility issue. Only the employer can confirm an exception.
For AI-oriented jobs, show ordinary engineering discipline alongside model use: input validation, permissions, bounded retries, failure tests and an explanation of what happens when the system cannot answer. A polished chatbot demo alone does not show who owns data access, incidents or the final decision.
You do not need to claim every skill. State the depth you can defend: used in professional delivery, practised in a learning project, or not yet used. That makes your application easier to assess and your preparation more focused.
How freshers should approach the search
Look for explicit graduate, internship, associate or junior eligibility. None of the six India examples above establishes a guaranteed zero-experience route. Early-career experience requirements still matter. Ask whether an internship counts when the wording is unclear; do not silently count coursework as employment.
Build a credible first application
- Choose a small user problem you can explain without technical jargon.
- Build a working application with an API or interface, data validation and a clear error path.
- Test normal behaviour and a few important failures, then record what actually happened.
- Prepare setup instructions, a short demo and a handover note.
- Explain your own contribution, including any tutorial, library or AI assistance you used.
A degree policy is employer-specific. Some roles request a relevant qualification; others mention equivalent practical experience. Do not assume that a training certificate replaces a degree requirement, or that the absence of a degree line means there are no screening requirements.
Consider adjacent roles for the work they offer
Junior backend, implementation, support engineering or customer engineering roles may help develop relevant experience. Inspect whether you will write maintained code, investigate users’ problems and receive engineering review. A role with a fashionable title but no mentorship may be less suitable than a well-supported adjacent role.
Your first objective is a role matched to your current evidence and learning needs. Use the FDE roadmap for a longer practice sequence; this jobs guide focuses on deciding where and how to apply.
How experienced developers can reposition their evidence
You may already have relevant experience without the FDE title. Identify work where you investigated an unclear request, integrated an external system, coordinated a rollout or explained a production issue to a customer. Translate the work into responsibility and evidence, not a new title you never held.
For each example, write the original problem, your contribution, the constraint, the decision and the observed result. Use verified figures where you have them. If the work is confidential, create a sanitised description approved for disclosure or use a separate synthetic demonstration. Do not publish employer code, tickets, credentials or customer documents in a job application.
A strong transition story explains why you want more customer ownership and how you will handle ambiguity. It should also acknowledge what is new: discovery, commercial context, travel or running a pilot may require deliberate practice.
| Your background | Relevant evidence to bring | Gap to practise if missing |
|---|---|---|
| Backend / full-stack engineering | APIs, data models, integration tests and shipped features. | Discovery, scoping and explaining trade-offs directly to users. |
| Cloud / DevOps / platform | Deployment, monitoring, incident handling and recovery. | Application workflow design and customer-facing requirements. |
| QA / SDET | Failure analysis, automation and release-quality evidence. | Building maintained application code and owning an integration. |
| Data engineering / analytics | Data contracts, pipelines and source-quality investigation. | A usable application interface, access controls and rollout. |
| Implementation / technical consulting | Customer requirements, integration and go-live coordination. | Demonstrable code ownership and repeatable software tests. |
This is a preparation map, not an employer equivalence policy. Keep your actual job title on your resume. Explain the transferable work beneath it, and ask how the employer would assess your level.
A practical fit worksheet
Create a row for every important requirement. Record whether it is essential, preferred or unclear. Then write one piece of evidence, not a confidence score alone.
| Requirement | My evidence | Gap or follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| API integration | A synthetic ticket workflow with authenticated lookup and failure tests. | No experience with the employer’s named CRM. |
| Customer discovery | A labelled interview simulation and agreed acceptance criteria. | No claim of paid enterprise consulting. |
| Production operations | A deployment rehearsal and rollback runbook. | No real on-call rotation yet. |
| Communication | A short demo explaining success, failure and limits. | Practise answering a non-technical stakeholder’s objections. |
This example is deliberately honest. A recruiter can assess the gap; an invented production claim will be much harder to defend. Where a requirement is genuinely mandatory, do not assume a related tutorial is an equivalent qualification.
Worked decision: apply, clarify or prepare?
Illustrative candidate, not a real placement story: imagine a backend developer who can show API integration and debugging experience, has built a permitted-data AI project, and can work from India. The target role also asks for customer rollout ownership and particular overlap hours.
The developer has evidence for some technical requirements but should not claim independent rollout ownership. They can explain the rollout work they contributed to, identify the remaining responsibility gap and ask about the hours. If a mandatory condition is not met, they should choose another level or clarify eligibility before investing in an assessment.
- Apply: mandatory conditions are met and the application contains relevant, explainable evidence.
- Clarify: a material condition is ambiguous, such as remote location, experience counting or travel.
- Prepare: a required ability is missing; choose a specific exercise or suitable adjacent role.
- Skip: the work or conditions do not fit your goals, even if the company is attractive.
Do not convert this worksheet into a hiring probability. Its purpose is to expose the next action, not produce a made-up eligibility score.
What to put in your FDE portfolio
Make one relevant project easy to inspect before adding more repositories. GitHub’s resume-profile guidance is a useful reference for presenting selected work and explaining it clearly. The package below is our suggested application checklist, not a requirement imposed by every employer.
| Artifact | What a reviewer should be able to understand |
|---|---|
| Problem brief | Who needs the workflow, what is wrong now and what the first version will change. |
| Architecture sketch | Inputs, services, storage, permissions and important trust boundaries. |
| Runnable repository | Setup, dependencies, sample configuration and synthetic data; no secrets. |
| Test report | Normal cases, failure cases, actual results and unresolved limitations. |
| Short demonstration | A working path and a failure path, with your decisions explained. |
| Deployment / recovery note | How the application is released, monitored, stopped and restored. |
| Handover document | How another person operates it, changes it and escalates a problem. |
Before sharing, open the repository and demo links while signed out. Confirm the reader can access the intended material and that a new user can follow the setup. Remove customer documents, private tickets, keys and internal URLs. Where professional work cannot be disclosed, use an authorised summary or a separate synthetic example.
If an AI coding tool helped, be ready to explain the generated code, what you changed and how you tested it. Do not export a confidential work session to prove tool usage. The resume and portfolio guide covers presentation in depth, while FDE project ideas helps you choose a suitable build.
Prepare an application that is easy to assess
- Save the exact vacancy. Record the company, title, role URL, location and date checked.
- Check mandatory conditions. Resolve experience, education, location, hours and travel before assuming a fit.
- Map three important responsibilities. Put one genuine example against each; state a gap where necessary.
- Tailor the resume summary. Describe your relevant work and capability, not an unsupported title upgrade.
- Select the evidence. Link the most relevant repository, demo or permitted case description.
- Review every claim. Check dates, ownership, qualifications and any measured results.
- Check the destination. Use the employer’s advertised route and confirm what information you are submitting.
- Submit and record the result. Keep the confirmation, application date and next action in your private tracker.
Turn a vague resume claim into evidence
Weak: Experienced in AI, cloud, APIs and customer satisfaction.
Illustrative rewrite: Built a synthetic support-routing application with validated requests, authenticated lookup, failure tests and a handover guide; documented cases that require human review.
The second version explains a deliverable and its limits. Use it only if it describes your actual work, and label a learning project accordingly. Add an impact metric only when you measured it and can explain the baseline. Invented revenue, time savings or accuracy percentages weaken credibility.
After submission, avoid sending a different resume to every contact without tracking versions. Keep the version used for each role so your interview preparation matches the claims the employer received.
A short recruiter or referral message
Write a message around one role and one relevant piece of evidence. The template below is for you to adapt; it has not been sent to any employer.
Subject: Application for [exact role title / job ID]
Hello [name],
I am interested in the [role] at [company]. My experience in [relevant work] matches the requirement for [specific responsibility]. In [project or permitted work example], I personally [contribution], and the evidence is available at [portfolio link].
I have checked the [location / experience] requirements. Could you clarify [one material question, if needed]? I have applied through [official route, only if true]. Thank you for reviewing my application.
[Your name]
Replace every bracketed field and remove the question when the advertisement already answers it. A referral request should make it easy for someone to evaluate the connection; it should not pressure them to endorse work they have not seen.
If the employer gives a response timeline, follow it. Otherwise, a single polite follow-up after a reasonable interval, such as about a week, is a practical starting point, not an industry rule. Respect a rejection or a request not to follow up.
What the FDE hiring process may assess
There is no universal FDE interview sequence. As one concrete example, Peakflo’s advertisement described an initial screening and technical-theory discussion, a hands-on technical stage, a technical conversation with the CTO/co-founder and reference checks. It also requested a coding-agent session transcript. Share only your own permitted, non-confidential material after checking what is required.
For other employers, ask the recruiter to outline the rounds, time commitment and assessment format. Prepare around the responsibilities instead of assuming that a popular online interview pattern applies everywhere.
| Possible assessment area | Useful preparation | Common mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Coding and debugging | Implement a small API flow and explain validation, errors and tests. | Showing generated code that you cannot explain. |
| Customer discovery | Ask about users, constraints, current workflow and acceptance criteria. | Choosing an AI architecture before understanding the problem. |
| System / integration design | Discuss data flow, permissions, failure handling and deployment. | Drawing services without describing ownership or recovery. |
| AI application evaluation | Define representative cases and show how failures change a release decision. | Treating one good demo as proof of general quality. |
| Communication and judgement | Explain a trade-off in plain language and acknowledge uncertainty. | Claiming a capability or result you have not tested. |
These are practice suggestions, not confirmed rounds at each company in the table. Use our FDE interview questions for focused preparation and deployment and handover checklist for delivery trade-offs.
Questions that reveal the real job
- What does a typical first customer engagement look like?
- How is work split between pre-sales, implementation and post-release support?
- Who approves scope and who can stop an unsafe release?
- How much time is spent coding versus customer meetings?
- What is the travel or time-zone expectation?
- What does successful performance look like in the first three months?
- Who maintains customer-specific code after handover?
- How do reusable improvements reach the product team?
Ask for concrete examples. An answer such as you own everything can mean meaningful autonomy, unclear boundaries or inadequate support. Follow up about decision rights, escalation and engineering review.
Ask about the first assignment
A useful follow-up is: what would I be expected to deliver for the first customer, and who reviews the design and release? This makes scope, support and seniority more concrete. Ask how customer-specific code is maintained and what happens when a customer requests work outside the agreed scope.
Discuss the working conditions separately: travel frequency, customer time zones, escalation coverage and office attendance. An appealing technology stack does not answer whether the ordinary working week fits your circumstances.
Verify a vacancy and protect your application
Search results and reposted advertisements can be stale. Open the exact listing, verify the employer identity and check the application destination before sharing information. An inaccessible source is a reason to verify, not proof that the company is or is not hiring.
The US Federal Trade Commission job-scam guidance warns about schemes asking people to pay for a job or deposit a cheque and send money back. Treat demands to pay for a guaranteed offer or return part of a payment as serious warning signs. Independently verify the recruiter through the employer’s official channels.
- Check that the company, role and contact details agree across the source and application route.
- Do not provide passwords, OTPs, bank-login details or private employer credentials.
- Ask why an assessment needs access to a personal account or production system before granting anything.
- Run unfamiliar assessment code only in a controlled environment without personal secrets or company data.
- Keep a copy of the advertised instructions and clarify any materially different request.
For a take-home task, agree the scope and expected time. Use permitted test data and ask whether the result will be evaluated as a sample or used in a real deployment. You can request clarification without making accusations about the employer. Do not publish a confidential assessment afterwards unless you have permission.
Keep a useful application tracker
Use a private sheet with the following fields. The sample rows are fictional workflow examples, not applications submitted by Brolly Academy.
| Role / source | Fit evidence or blocker | Status | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Example A: remote-India integration role | API evidence ready; overlap hours unclear | Clarify | Ask for the required working window before an assessment. |
| Example B: graduate customer-engineering role | Entry requirements met; demo and resume checked | Applied | Record confirmation and prepare the project explanation. |
| Example C: senior production role | Independent rollout ownership missing | Prepare / different level | Practise delivery and search for a level matched to current experience. |
Add the exact employer URL, date checked, application date, resume version and any stated response deadline. Keep notes factual and relevant. Avoid collecting unnecessary personal information about recruiters or other candidates.
Use the pattern to decide what to improve
- Repeated eligibility mismatches: narrow the search by level, location or work arrangement.
- No response despite plausible fit: inspect targeting and whether the resume makes your evidence easy to find; silence does not reveal a definite cause.
- Difficulty in technical rounds: practise the specific coding, debugging or design weakness you observed.
- Difficulty explaining projects: rehearse the problem, your decisions, results and limitations with a reviewer.
Do not treat a small number of outcomes as a reliable hiring statistic. Improve one identifiable weakness at a time and retain the evidence behind the change.
A practical one-week application preparation plan
This is a suggested work plan, not a promise of interviews within seven days. Adjust it to your starting point and available time; a substantial skill gap may need much longer.
- Day 1: find a small set of relevant roles and check location, level and application routes.
- Day 2: complete the fit worksheet and remove roles that do not meet essential conditions.
- Day 3: improve one project deliverable, such as tests or setup instructions.
- Day 4: tailor the resume and prepare a concise project explanation.
- Day 5: check links and claims, then apply through the advertised routes.
- Day 6: practise a coding problem and a customer-discovery conversation.
- Day 7: update the tracker and choose the next evidence gap to address.
Prioritise complete, relevant applications over an arbitrary daily submission target. If you cannot yet explain the work in your repository, spend more time understanding and testing it before presenting it as your capability.
Compare salary and training after checking role fit
Once a role is plausible, ask for the approved compensation range and written breakup. Do not assume that a large overseas salary, a senior title or a course fee predicts your offer. Compare the role’s level and responsibilities alongside fixed pay, variable pay and other conditions.
The India FDE salary guide contains source-linked advertised bands and offer-comparison examples. It is separate from this job-search process so you can investigate pay without confusing salary estimates with actual vacancies.
For structured practice, Brolly Academy’s Forward Deployed Engineer Course is a two-month learning option with trainer Manish, at INR 20,000 online or INR 25,000 classroom. In the free demo, bring one target job and your fit worksheet. Discuss which gaps the syllabus addresses and what project feedback you can expect.
Confirm batch hours, support, taxes and any cloud costs before enrolment. Course registration is not an application to the employers in this guide, does not waive their eligibility requirements and does not guarantee employment.
How the job sources were checked
We reviewed accessible employer career pages and employer-posted vacancy descriptions on 9 October 2026. The India table records the visible title, location, experience and work focus. Sources with conflicting eligibility were excluded from that shortlist or clearly qualified.
We did not contact recruiters, submit applications, verify remaining headcount or confirm that an employer will accept a particular candidate. An application button or instruction establishes a visible application route at the time of review, not a guaranteed open seat later.
All worksheets, sample messages and preparation plans are original teaching examples. They are not employer-approved screening criteria. Follow the linked source for the latest terms, and use the exact vacancy to resolve any difference between this summary and the employer’s current wording.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are forward deployed engineer jobs available in India?
This guide links to six India advertisements with visible application routes when checked on 9 October 2026. Availability can change. Open the exact employer source before applying; the list is not a live vacancy feed.
Can a fresher get an FDE job?
Some employers advertise graduate or internship pathways, but each has its own eligibility. None of the six India examples establishes a guaranteed zero-experience route. Search for explicit entry-level wording and show a complete, honestly labelled project.
Are there FDE jobs in Hyderabad?
The source-linked India table includes a Hyderabad advertisement. Check its current experience requirement and working arrangement. A city match alone does not establish that the level or responsibilities suit you.
Can I work remotely from India?
Only when the specific employer permits that location and you meet its other conditions. Remote labels can still involve country restrictions, office visits, customer travel or required time-zone overlap.
What qualifications do FDE employers ask for?
Requirements vary. Check the exact education, experience and coding requirements, including whether equivalent practical experience is accepted. A course certificate should not be presented as a replacement for a mandatory qualification.
Do all FDE roles require AI or machine learning?
No. Read the work rather than inferring it from the title. Some roles focus on AI applications; others emphasise enterprise data, integration or customer-facing software delivery.
Is an FDE job the same as a solutions engineer job?
Not necessarily. Some solutions roles focus on pre-sales demonstrations, while others include implementation. Ask who owns maintained code, deployment and support after the demonstration.
What should an FDE resume demonstrate?
Show relevant coding, integration, problem-solving and customer communication through actual examples. State your own contribution, provide accessible evidence and distinguish professional delivery from a learning project.
How many portfolio projects should I include?
Select enough to demonstrate the target responsibilities without overwhelming the reviewer. One complete, reproducible project can be more useful than many unfinished repositories. There is no universal employer-required project count.
What interview rounds should I expect?
The sequence is employer-specific. Ask the recruiter. Coding, debugging, customer discovery, system design and project explanation are useful preparation areas, but they are not confirmed rounds for every role listed here.
Should I apply when I miss some listed requirements?
Distinguish mandatory conditions from preferences. Explain relevant evidence and gaps honestly. Clarify ambiguous requirements with the employer instead of assuming a related tutorial overrides a required qualification or years of experience.
Where can I compare FDE salaries?
Use the linked India salary guide for advertised examples and offer-comparison methods. For a particular application, confirm the employer-approved range and written pay breakup rather than relying on a broad online estimate.
Does Brolly Academy recruit for these companies?
No recruitment or hiring partnership is claimed here. These are public research links. Apply through the employer-designated route; course enrolment is separate from employer selection.
Will completing the FDE course guarantee a job?
No. Training can support practice and portfolio development, but employers decide eligibility and selection. Compare the syllabus with your actual gaps before choosing a course.
