SailPoint Certification Cost 2026 guide by Brolly Academy

Quick answer

SailPoint's training-based credential exams are free when you take the matching training path, or cost 2 training units (about $200 USD) if you buy the exam on its own; SailPoint does not publish a public price for its three role-based certification exams, so you see that price on Identity University at checkout. That is what SailPoint's certification and credentialing program page said in October 2026. Every enrolment includes one free retake within 364 days and is non-refundable. You pay in US dollars, so the rupee amount depends on the exchange rate and your card charges on the day you pay.

  • Training-based credentials (Leader, Professional, Expert, IdentityIQ Associate): free with the training path, or 2 training units (about $200) standalone
  • Role-based certifications (Identity Security Administrator, Identity Security Engineer, IdentityIQ Engineer): price shown on Identity University at checkout; not published on the program page
  • Retake: one free retake included with each enrolment, valid 364 days
  • Rescheduling: free up to 48 hours before; inside 48 hours the proctoring partner charges a $20 fee
  • Renewal: role-based certifications last two years and are renewed by retaking the exam; training-based credentials do not expire

Key takeaways

  1. The only exam price SailPoint publishes is for training-based credentials: free with the training path, or 2 training units (about $200 USD) bought alone (SailPoint, October 2026).
  2. Do not trust any website that quotes a fixed rupee or dollar price for the role-based exams. SailPoint shows that price at checkout, and it can change.
  3. Your real cost is more than the exam fee: training, practice time, a possible rescheduling fee, forex charges on your card and, for role-based certifications, renewal every two years.
  4. Use the free retake well. Prepare properly so that one enrolment, with its built-in second attempt, is all you ever buy.
  5. Most job descriptions we read in October 2026 listed SailPoint certification as "good to have", so hands-on skill is what pays back; the certificate helps you stand out.

1. SailPoint certification cost at a glance

Short answer: Training-based exams are free with training or about $200 alone, role-based exam prices are shown at checkout, one retake is free, and late rescheduling costs $20.

This table pulls together every cost item SailPoint states on its official certification program page (last updated 23 September 2026, checked 24 October 2026). Where SailPoint does not publish a figure, we say so instead of guessing.

Cost item What SailPoint says (USD) Notes Training-based credential exam Free with the matching training path Covers Leader, Professional, Expert and IdentityIQ Associate Training-based exam bought alone 2 training units (about $200) Training units are Identity University's purchase currency Role-based certification exam Not published; shown on Identity University at checkout Covers Administrator, Engineer and IdentityIQ Engineer Retake One free retake per enrolment Must be used within 364 days of purchase Rescheduling (role-based) Free up to 48 hours before; $20 inside 48 hours Charged by the proctoring partner, Proctor360 Refund Not available Enrolments are non-refundable Renewal (role-based) Retake the exam Fee for renewal not published on the program page Official training courses Not published on the public page Bought through Identity University (login needed)

Read the table like this. If you take an official SailPoint training path, the matching training-based exam costs you nothing extra. If you only want the exam, you pay about $200. For the three role-based certifications, the price is visible only when you log in to Identity University, so check there on the day you plan to buy.

2. The seven SailPoint credentials and what each costs

Short answer: SailPoint has seven current credentials: three role-based certifications (paid exam, valid two years) and four training-based credentials (free with training, never expire).

SailPoint's program page listed seven credentials in October 2026. On 17 February 2026, SailPoint's recertification program announcement said the Administrator exam was the seventh exam added to the program and that more than 12,000 people were SailPoint certified.

Two product names appear in these titles. IdentityIQ (IIQ) is SailPoint's self-managed product, installed on a company's own servers or cloud. Identity Security Cloud (ISC, formerly IdentityNow, now sold as SailPoint Human Fabric within SailPoint Identity Security) is the SaaS product. The exams still use the name Identity Security Cloud.

Credential Type and product Exam cost (SailPoint, Oct 2026) Validity SailPoint Certified Identity Security Administrator Role-based, ISC Shown at checkout 2 years SailPoint Certified Identity Security Engineer Role-based, ISC Shown at checkout 2 years SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Engineer Role-based, IdentityIQ Shown at checkout 2 years SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Associate Training-based, IdentityIQ Free with training path, or 2 training units (about $200) Does not expire SailPoint Identity Security Leader Credential Training-based Free with training path, or 2 training units (about $200) Does not expire SailPoint Identity Security Professional Training-based Free with training path, or 2 training units (about $200) Does not expire SailPoint Identity Security Expert Training-based Free with training path, or 2 training units (about $200) Does not expire

A quick word on what you get for the money. According to SailPoint's exam prep guides (updated 21 October 2026):

  • IdentityIQ Engineer: up to 66 questions in up to 90 minutes, online and proctored, with 1 to 3 years of implementation experience recommended. See the IdentityIQ Engineer exam prep guide.
  • Identity Security Engineer: up to 73 questions in up to 120 minutes, with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience recommended.
  • Identity Security Administrator: up to 74 questions in up to 120 minutes, with 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience recommended.
  • IdentityIQ Associate: up to 43 questions in up to 90 minutes; you must first complete the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path courses (SailPoint, September 2026).

All of these use discrete option multiple choice (DOMC), where answer options appear one at a time and you say yes or no to each. Results are pass or fail only. SailPoint does not publish a passing score.

This post is about money. For exam domains, which credential suits you and a study plan, read our full guide to SailPoint certification.

3. How SailPoint exam fees work: training units, enrolments and retakes

Short answer: You buy an exam enrolment on Identity University, either as part of a training path or alone using training units; each enrolment lasts 364 days, includes one free retake and cannot be refunded.

SailPoint sells its training and exams through Identity University, its online learning portal. Three terms decide what you pay.

Training units. SailPoint prices some items in training units instead of plain dollars. The program page says a standalone training-based exam costs 2 training units, about $200 USD (SailPoint, October 2026). Your employer may already hold training units if it is a SailPoint customer or partner, so ask before you pay yourself.

Enrolment. An enrolment is your paid right to sit an exam. According to the program page:

  • It expires 364 days after purchase.
  • It is non-refundable.
  • It includes one free retake, which must also be used within those 364 days.

Attempts. The prep guides say each role-based exam allows two attempts, which is the first try plus the automatic retake. If you fail both, you would need to buy a new enrolment. That is the single biggest way people double their cost.

Here is the timeline for one enrolment, as a numbered flow:

  1. Day 0: you buy the enrolment on Identity University. The 364-day clock starts.
  2. At least 48 hours after confirmation: you book a role-based exam slot with Proctor360, the online proctoring partner.
  3. Exam day: you sit the exam online. Results are emailed within 72 business hours.
  4. If you pass: you get your certification and a Credly digital badge.
  5. If you fail: you use the free retake, again inside the 364 days.
  6. If you fail twice, or the 364 days run out: you buy a new enrolment and pay again.

Training-based exams are simpler. They launch directly inside Identity University, so there is no booking and no rescheduling fee.

4. What the exam fee includes and what it does not

Short answer: The fee covers one exam enrolment with two attempts, online proctoring and a digital badge; it does not cover training, practice labs, late rescheduling or renewal.

Knowing what is inside the fee helps you avoid surprises.

Included in the exam enrolment Not included One exam attempt plus one free retake within 364 days Official training courses (unless you buy a training path that bundles the exam) Online proctoring for role-based exams (Proctor360) Rescheduling inside 48 hours ($20, charged by Proctor360) Pass or fail result by email within 72 business hours A detailed score report (SailPoint gives pass or fail only) Credly digital badge when you pass Renewal after two years for role-based certifications Access to the exam's official prep guide (free for everyone) A practice environment for hands-on work

Two points trip people up. First, there is no refund, so do not buy an enrolment months before you are ready, because the 364-day clock keeps ticking. Second, training-based credentials come free only with the matching training path. If you skip the path and buy the exam alone, you pay the 2 training units.

5. Official SailPoint training cost

Short answer: SailPoint sells official training through Identity University, but course prices are not shown on public pages; you see them after logging in, and many learners get access through an employer.

SailPoint's official courses, such as the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path that includes IdentityIQ Introduction and IdentityIQ Essentials, are sold through Identity University. The prep guides recommend these paths before each exam:

  • IdentityIQ Engineer: the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path
  • IdentityIQ Associate: completing the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path courses is a prerequisite
  • Identity Security Engineer: the Identity Security Engineer training path
  • Identity Security Administrator: the Identity Security Administrator training path

We could not verify official course prices on any public SailPoint page in October 2026, so we do not quote one here. Identity University requires a login to show prices. If a blog or video gives you a fixed figure for SailPoint's own courses, treat it as old or unconfirmed and check the portal yourself.

What you should know about official training:

  • It is the cleanest route to a training-based credential. The matching exam is free with the path, according to the program page.
  • It is recommended, not always required, for role-based exams. The prep guides list a training path and 1 to 3 years of experience as recommendations. The IdentityIQ Associate is the one where completing the learning path courses is a stated prerequisite.
  • Your employer may already pay for it. SailPoint customers and partner firms often hold Identity University access for their teams. Ask your manager or learning team before you spend your own money.

6. SailPoint certification cost in India: converting USD to rupees

Short answer: SailPoint charges in US dollars, so the rupee cost equals the USD price multiplied by your bank's exchange rate on payment day, plus any foreign currency markup and tax your card adds.

There is no official rupee price for any SailPoint exam. You pay in dollars with an international debit or credit card, and your bank converts the amount. That is why two people paying the same $200 on different days, or with different cards, see different rupee totals.

Use this simple formula:

  1. Find the USD price on Identity University at checkout.
  2. Multiply by the exchange rate your bank uses that day.
  3. Add your card's foreign currency markup, which is a percentage your bank sets. Check your card's fee schedule.
  4. Add tax on the markup if your bank charges it. Many Indian banks do; check your statement.

Here is a worked example. The exchange rate and markup below are example figures chosen only to show the maths. They are not today's rate or your bank's actual charges.

Step Example calculation (illustrative only) USD price $200 (training-based exam bought alone, SailPoint, October 2026) Example exchange rate ₹90 per $1 (example only) Converted amount 200 × 90 = ₹18,000 Example card markup 3% of ₹18,000 = ₹540 (example only) Example total before tax on markup ₹18,540

Apply the same steps to the $20 rescheduling fee: at the same example rate it would be ₹1,800 plus your card's markup. For role-based exams, take the USD price shown at checkout and run it through the same table.

Three tips to keep the rupee cost down:

  • Use a card with a low forex markup. Some cards charge less on foreign currency than others.
  • Check whether your card is enabled for international online payments before you start, so a failed payment does not delay your booking.
  • Ask your employer to pay in USD directly if they sponsor you. That removes your personal forex cost completely.

7. Hidden and extra costs to plan for

Short answer: Beyond the exam fee, budget for training or a course, a practice environment, a possible rescheduling fee, a second enrolment if you fail twice, forex charges, a stable internet setup and renewal every two years.

The exam fee is rarely the biggest number. Here is the full list of things that can add to your bill.

Extra cost Why it happens How to avoid or reduce it A second enrolment You fail both attempts, or let 364 days pass Book only when ready and use the free retake inside the window Rescheduling fee ($20) You move a role-based exam inside 48 hours Reschedule more than 48 hours before, which is free Lost attempt The program page has a 15-minute no-show rule Log in early and test your system the day before Forex markup Your bank converts USD to INR Use a low-markup card or employer payment Training or course fee Official paths or an institute course Use employer access, free docs and community first Practice environment You need hands-on time with IdentityIQ or ISC Use the labs that come with training, or your employer's non-production setup Home exam setup Online proctoring needs a webcam, quiet room and steady internet Fix this a week before the exam Renewal Role-based certifications last two years Plan to retake within the validity window

About the practice environment. SailPoint software is licensed enterprise software. Get hands-on practice through official training labs, your employer's non-production environment or a legitimate course lab. Do not download unofficial builds from file-sharing sites. Besides the legal risk, they are often old versions that do not match the current exams.

About renewal. SailPoint says role-based certifications are renewed by retaking the exam, and the new two-year validity counts from the new exam date. The February 2026 recertification program extends certifications by two more years for holders of the Identity Security Engineer, IdentityIQ Engineer and Identity Security Administrator certifications (SailPoint, February 2026). SailPoint does not state a renewal fee on the program page, so check Identity University when your expiry date nears.

8. Total cost scenarios: four ways to get certified

Short answer: Your total cost depends on your route: self-study plus a training-based exam is the cheapest, official training bundles the exam, an Indian institute course adds a rupee fee, and employer sponsorship can bring your personal cost close to zero.

No ranking page adds the pieces together, so we have. We use only official figures. Where SailPoint does not publish a price, we describe it in words.

Scenario A: self-study plus a training-based exam

  • Who it suits: working IAM analysts or developers who already know IdentityIQ or ISC and want a credential for their profile.
  • What you pay: 2 training units (about $200) for the exam bought alone, converted at your bank's rate, plus forex charges.
  • Free inputs: SailPoint documentation, the developer portal, the community and the free prep guides.
  • Watch out: the IdentityIQ Associate has a stated prerequisite of completing the learning path courses, so check each credential's prep guide before you assume self-study is enough.

Scenario B: official SailPoint training path plus its exam

  • Who it suits: people whose employer has Identity University access, or who want SailPoint's own course content.
  • What you pay: the training path price shown on Identity University. The matching training-based exam is free with the path.
  • Watch out: if you then want a role-based certification, that exam is a separate purchase at the checkout price.

Scenario C: Indian institute course plus a SailPoint exam

  • Who it suits: freshers, support engineers and Active Directory admins who need guided, hands-on teaching in a lab before they can attempt an exam.
  • What you pay: the institute's course fee in rupees, plus the SailPoint exam fee in USD paid separately to SailPoint. Most institutes do not include the SailPoint exam fee, so confirm this before you join.
  • Watch out: an institute's own course completion certificate is not a SailPoint certification. Only SailPoint issues SailPoint credentials.

Scenario D: employer-sponsored training and exam

  • Who it suits: anyone already working at a SailPoint customer, partner or consulting firm.
  • What you pay: often nothing yourself, or only your time. Some employers ask you to stay for a period after sponsoring a certification, so read any bond or policy.
  • Watch out: check whether the sponsorship covers only the first attempt or also a new enrolment if you fail twice.

Here is how the four routes compare on what you control.

Route Exam fee Training cost Best for A. Self-study plus training-based exam About $200 (2 training units) Free resources only Experienced IAM staff B. Official training path Free training-based exam with the path Identity University price Employer-backed learners C. Institute course plus exam Paid separately to SailPoint Institute fee in rupees Freshers and career switchers D. Employer sponsorship Paid by employer Paid by employer People already in IAM teams

9. What is free in SailPoint learning

Short answer: SailPoint's documentation, developer portal, exam prep guides and community are free to read, and training-based exams are free when you take the matching training path; role-based exams and official courses are not free.

Many people search for "SailPoint certification free" or "SailPoint course free". Here is the honest answer.

Free:

  • Exam prep guides for every credential on community.sailpoint.com, with domains, question counts and recommended training.
  • Product documentation on the SailPoint documentation hub, including the live IdentityIQ 9.0 help site and the ISC docs.
  • The developer portal at developer.sailpoint.com, with API specs, Postman collections, SDKs and guides for transforms (JSON rules that change attribute values in ISC) and SaaS connectors.
  • Training-based credential exams, when you complete the matching training path.

Not free:

  • Role-based certification exams (Administrator, Engineer, IdentityIQ Engineer): price shown at checkout.
  • Training-based exams bought alone: 2 training units, about $200.
  • Official Identity University courses, unless your employer provides access.
  • A licensed practice environment.

So "free SailPoint certification" usually means a training-based credential that came free with a training path someone already paid for. Keep that in mind when you see headlines promising a free certificate.

10. How to reduce your SailPoint certification cost

Short answer: Ask your employer first, prepare well enough to pass on the first or free second attempt, avoid late rescheduling, use free official resources and pick the credential that matches your current role.

Use these eight steps, roughly in this order:

  1. Ask your employer. If you work at a SailPoint customer or partner firm, ask your manager or learning team whether they have Identity University access or training units.
  2. Pick the right credential for now. Do not buy a role-based exam meant for 1 to 3 years of experience if you have none. Start with the credential that fits your current level.
  3. Study from free official material first. Read the prep guide, the docs and the developer portal before you spend on anything.
  4. Get real hands-on practice. The exams test applied knowledge. Practice in a legitimate lab so that you pass on the first try.
  5. Buy the enrolment only when you are ready. The 364-day clock starts at purchase and there is no refund.
  6. Book early and reschedule early. Rescheduling is free until 48 hours before the exam; after that it costs $20.
  7. Use the free retake wisely. If you fail, review the domains you struggled with and retake well inside the 364 days.
  8. Pay smart. Use a card with a low forex markup, or let your employer pay in USD.

11. Is SailPoint certification worth the money? An ROI view

Short answer: In money terms it can pay back quickly once you are in a SailPoint role, because AmbitionBox showed SailPoint developers with 3 to 6 years earning about ₹8.4 to 9.2 lakh a year against ₹5 to 5.6 lakh at 1 to 3 years, but the certificate alone does not get you hired.

This section looks only at money. For the full "is it worth it" argument, see our SailPoint certification guide.

What salaries look like. On 24 October 2026, AmbitionBox's SailPoint Developer salary page showed a typical range of ₹7.6 to 8.4 lakh a year in India, based on 562 reported salaries for 1 to 6 years' experience. Its experience bands showed:

Experience (SailPoint Developer, India) Typical range (AmbitionBox, Oct 2026) Salaries reported 1 to 3 years ₹5 to 5.6 lakh a year 175 3 to 6 years ₹8.4 to 9.2 lakh a year 384 6 to 9 years ₹11.9 to 16.1 lakh a year 4 (tiny sample)

AmbitionBox also showed Identity and Access Management Engineers in India at ₹10 to 11.1 lakh a year (834 salaries, 1 to 10 years) and SailPoint Consultants at ₹9.8 to 11.6 lakh a year (162 salaries, 2 to 8 years), both in October 2026. These are typical ranges shown to logged-out users, not offers. For city-wise and role-wise detail, read our SailPoint developer salary guide.

A simple payback check. Suppose your total spend is the $200 training-based exam plus a course fee. Compare that one-time spend with the gap between AmbitionBox's 1 to 3 year band and its 3 to 6 year band, which works out to about ₹2.8 lakh to ₹4.2 lakh a year at the band edges. If skills and a credential help you move up even one band sooner, the spend is small next to the yearly gap. This is an illustration, not a promise: pay depends on your skills, employer, city and interview performance.

What employers actually ask for. In the job descriptions we read on 24 October 2026:

  • EY's SailPoint IIQ Senior role in Hyderabad listed "SailPoint Certified IdentityIQ Engineer" as desirable, not required.
  • PwC's SailPoint Developer listing on Naukri called SailPoint certifications "good to have".
  • Almost every SailPoint developer listing asked for 3 or more years of experience.

So the money is in skills. A certification helps your resume stand out and gives you a structured way to learn, but hands-on IdentityIQ or ISC work, Java, BeanShell (the Java-based scripting language used for IdentityIQ rules) and connector onboarding are what interviewers test.

When it is worth paying yourself:

  • You already work in IAM operations or support and want to move into SailPoint development.
  • You have 1 or more years of hands-on SailPoint work and want proof for a job switch.
  • Your employer will not sponsor you and you are ready to pass.

When to wait:

  • You are a fresher with no IAM exposure. Build skills first; the role-based exams recommend 1 to 3 years of experience. On 24 October 2026 we found no SailPoint developer listing that genuinely accepted 0 years' experience, so freshers usually start in IAM operations or support roles.
  • You have not touched the product. You risk losing both attempts and paying twice.

12. How to pay and register: step by step

Short answer: Create an Identity University account, buy the exam enrolment or training path, pay in USD by card or with training units, then book role-based exams with Proctor360 at least 48 hours later, or launch training-based exams directly.

Follow these steps. They are based on SailPoint's program page as of October 2026.

  1. Read the prep guide for your chosen credential on community.sailpoint.com. Confirm recommended experience, training and prerequisites.
  2. Check with your employer for Identity University access, training units or reimbursement.
  3. Log in to Identity University (SailPoint's training portal) and find the exam or training path.
  4. Check the price at checkout. For role-based exams this is the only place you will see it.
  5. Pay with an internationally enabled card, training units or your employer's account. Note the USD amount and the rupee amount on your bank statement.
  6. For training-based exams: launch the exam directly in Identity University. No booking is needed.
  7. For role-based exams: wait until registration is confirmed, then book with Proctor360 at least 48 hours ahead.
  8. Prepare your exam setup: webcam, quiet room and stable internet. Log in early because of the 15-minute no-show rule.
  9. Sit the exam. DOMC questions appear one at a time. In the IdentityIQ Engineer exam, for example, you cannot go back or flag questions.
  10. Get your result by email within 72 business hours. If you pass, claim your Credly badge. If you fail, plan your free retake inside the 364 days.

13. How Brolly Academy helps

Frequently asked questions

How much does SailPoint certification cost?

It depends on the credential. SailPoint's training-based credential exams are free with the matching training path, or cost 2 training units, about $200 USD, if bought alone. SailPoint does not publish a public price for its three role-based exams, Identity Security Administrator, Identity Security Engineer and IdentityIQ Engineer, so you see that price on Identity University at checkout. Each enrolment includes one free retake within 364 days.

How much does SailPoint certification cost in India?

There is no official rupee price. SailPoint charges in US dollars, so your rupee cost is the USD price multiplied by your bank's exchange rate on payment day, plus any card markup and tax on it. As an example only, a $200 exam at an example rate of ₹90 per dollar is ₹18,000 before card charges. Your actual total will differ.

What is the SailPoint exam fee?

The only exam fee SailPoint publishes is for training-based credentials: free with the training path, or 2 training units, about $200 USD, bought standalone. For role-based certifications, the fee is shown on Identity University at checkout and is not listed on the program page. Rescheduling a role-based exam inside 48 hours costs $20, charged by Proctor360.

How much does the SailPoint IdentityIQ Engineer exam cost?

SailPoint does not publish the IdentityIQ Engineer exam price on its program page or prep guide. It is a role-based certification, so you see the price on Identity University at checkout. Ignore fixed figures on third-party sites, as they may be out of date. The enrolment includes two attempts, valid for 364 days, and the certification is valid for two years.

How much does the SailPoint Identity Security Engineer exam cost?

The Identity Security Engineer exam is role-based, and SailPoint shows its price only on Identity University at checkout. The public program page does not list a figure. The exam has up to 73 questions in up to 120 minutes, includes a free retake within 364 days and gives a certification valid for two years.

How much does the SailPoint IdentityIQ Associate exam cost?

The IdentityIQ Associate is a training-based credential. Its exam is free with the matching training path, or costs 2 training units, about $200 USD, if bought alone. Completing the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path courses is a stated prerequisite, and the badge never expires once you earn it.

What is a SailPoint training unit?

A training unit is the purchase currency Identity University uses for some training and exam items. SailPoint's program page says a standalone training-based exam costs 2 training units, which it equates to about $200 USD. Employers that are SailPoint customers or partners may already hold training units, so ask your team before buying them yourself.

Is SailPoint certification free?

Partly. Training-based credential exams are free when you complete the matching training path, and SailPoint's documentation, developer portal and prep guides are free to read. Role-based certification exams are paid, training-based exams bought alone cost about $200, and official courses are paid unless your employer provides access. A truly free certificate usually means someone already paid for the training.

Is there a free SailPoint course?

SailPoint's documentation hub, developer portal and community are free and cover a lot of IdentityIQ and Identity Security Cloud material. Official Identity University courses are paid, though many learners get access through their employer. Free material is great for learning, but you still need a legitimate practice environment, which usually comes with paid training or an employer setup.

How much does official SailPoint training cost?

SailPoint sells official training through Identity University, which needs a login to show prices. We could not verify course prices on any public SailPoint page in October 2026, so check the portal for current figures. Remember that taking the matching training path makes the related training-based credential exam free, which lowers your total cost.

What are SailPoint course fees in India?

Course fees at Indian institutes vary by mode, such as recorded video, live online or classroom, and by what is included, like labs, mock interviews and placement support. Always check whether the SailPoint exam fee is included; it usually is not. Brolly Academy's plans were ₹9,999 for video, ₹24,999 for online and ₹29,999 for classroom training in Hyderabad in October 2026.

What is the retake fee for a SailPoint exam?

Your first retake is free. Every SailPoint exam enrolment includes one free retake, which you must use within 364 days of purchase. If you fail both attempts or the 364 days pass, you need to buy a new enrolment at the current price. Preparing properly so that one enrolment is enough is the best way to control cost.

Is the SailPoint exam fee refundable?

No. SailPoint's program page says exam enrolments are non-refundable and expire 364 days after purchase. Because of this, buy the enrolment only when you are close to ready. Rescheduling a role-based exam is free up to 48 hours before the slot, but inside 48 hours Proctor360 charges a $20 rescheduling fee.

Is there a SailPoint recertification fee?

SailPoint does not state a renewal fee on its program page. Role-based certifications are valid for two years and are renewed by retaking the exam, with the new expiry counted from the new exam date. In February 2026, SailPoint announced a recertification program extending certifications by two more years for current certification holders. Check Identity University for the current price.

How long is a SailPoint certification valid?

Role-based certifications, meaning Identity Security Administrator, Identity Security Engineer and IdentityIQ Engineer, are valid for two years from the date of issue. Training-based credentials, meaning the Leader, Professional, Expert and IdentityIQ Associate, do not expire. Factor renewal into your long-term cost if you choose a role-based certification.

Do employers pay for SailPoint certification?

Many do, especially SailPoint customers, partners and consulting firms whose teams already have Identity University access or training units. Ask your manager or learning team before paying yourself. Some employers attach conditions, such as staying for a set period after sponsorship, so read the policy. Sponsorship can bring your personal cost close to zero.

Is official SailPoint training mandatory before the exam?

Not for every exam. The prep guides recommend a training path and 1 to 3 years of experience for role-based exams. For the IdentityIQ Associate, completing the Identity Security Engineer (IdentityIQ) learning path courses is a stated prerequisite. Training-based credential exams are free when you take the matching training path, so training often makes financial sense.

Do Indian institutes include the SailPoint exam fee in course fees?

Usually not. Most institute course fees cover teaching, labs and job support, while the SailPoint exam fee is paid separately to SailPoint in US dollars. Always ask before you enrol, and get the answer in writing. Also remember that an institute's own course completion certificate is not a SailPoint certification, because only SailPoint issues SailPoint credentials.

How long does a SailPoint course take?

Course duration depends on the provider and mode. Official Identity University paths are self-paced or scheduled, while institute courses in India often run for several weeks with live or classroom sessions. Plan extra time for hands-on practice, because the role-based exams recommend 1 to 3 years of real experience and test applied knowledge, not memory.

Why can I not find an exact price for SailPoint role-based exams?

SailPoint does not list role-based exam prices on its public program page or prep guides. The price appears on Identity University at checkout, and it can change over time. That is why figures on third-party blogs often disagree. Check the portal on the day you plan to buy and note the USD amount.

How do I pay for a SailPoint exam from India?

Log in to Identity University, choose the exam or training path, check the USD price at checkout and pay with an internationally enabled card, training units or your employer's account. Your bank converts dollars to rupees and may add a markup and tax. For role-based exams, book with Proctor360 at least 48 hours after registration is confirmed.

What extra costs come with SailPoint certification?

Beyond the exam fee, plan for training or a course, a legitimate practice environment, a possible $20 late rescheduling fee, a new enrolment if you fail twice, card forex charges, a good webcam and internet setup for online proctoring, and renewal every two years for role-based certifications. Most of these can be reduced with planning.

Is SailPoint certification worth the money?

In money terms it often is, once you have skills to match. AmbitionBox showed SailPoint developers in India earning about ₹5 to 5.6 lakh a year at 1 to 3 years and ₹8.4 to 9.2 lakh at 3 to 6 years in October 2026. Job descriptions list certification as good to have, so pair it with hands-on experience.

Should a fresher pay for a SailPoint exam?

Usually not straight away. The role-based exams recommend 1 to 3 years of hands-on experience, and failing both attempts means paying twice. Freshers usually start in IAM operations or support roles. Build skills through training and practice first, then pick the credential that matches your level, and take the exam when you are ready.
