CSM renewal cost

Short answer: Scaled Agile does not show an SSM exam price on its product page. Its study guide says the first two attempts are included in the course registration or exam fee if taken within 60 days, and retakes cost $50 unproctored or $495 proctored.
The SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) is a foundational certification from Scaled Agile. Here is what the official SSM exam study guide says about cost and format (Scaled Agile, October 2026):

PMI-ACP covers agile approaches more broadly than Scrum alone. It suits people who already work in project management, especially those with or planning a PMP. Older eligibility rules and fees still circulate on third-party sites, and those figures may be out of date. What SEUs cost
SEUs are Scrum Education Units. You can earn them through courses, events, reading, volunteering and other learning activities that Scrum Alliance accepts. Some of these are free, and some, such as advanced courses, cost money. Plan your learning across the two years so renewal does not become a last-minute expense.

Watch for unclear packages

8. Ways to save on Scrum Master certification
Short answer: Study the free Scrum Guide, use free practice assessments, choose PSM I if you can self-study, ask your employer to sponsor, pick online courses and pass on your first attempt.
- Start with the free Scrum Guide. The Scrum Guide 2020 is free to read at scrumguides.org, and the guide says Scrum itself is free. Read it at least twice before you pay for anything.
- Use free practice tests. Scrum.org offers free practice assessments. Take them until you score well consistently.
- Choose PSM I if you are a confident self-learner. At $200 with no course and no renewal, it is the lowest-cost recognised option.
- Ask your employer. Many companies pay for certifications that match their agile plans, especially SAFe in large organisations.
- Pick online over classroom if travel adds cost. CSM courses run online as well as in person.

If you are unsure about passing first time, budget for one retake. For PSM I, that means planning for $400 in total, about ₹38,000, even though you hope to spend only half. For CSM, the course fee already covers two attempts, so a retake within the 90-day window adds no official fee.
10. Paying in US dollars from India: practical tips
Short answer: Most official fees are charged in US dollars, so use a card that allows international payments, check your bank's forex markup and keep every receipt for employer reimbursement.
- Enable international payments. Many Indian debit and credit cards block foreign online payments by default. Turn this on in your banking app before you buy.
- Check the forex markup. Banks add a markup over the mid-market rate. The difference is small on $200 but adds up on a large CSM course fee.
