Generative AI Course Fees in India 2026 guide by Brolly Academy

Quick answer

Generative AI course fees in India range from zero for free official learning paths to about ₹2 lakh for an IIT executive programme, with most classroom and live online institute courses sitting in between. The fee depends mainly on four things: how long the course runs, whether classes are live or recorded, how much project and mentor time you get, and what career support comes with it. A certification exam is a separate cost, usually paid in US dollars.

  • Free: official learning paths such as Google Cloud's no-cost Generative AI Leader learning path and the Hugging Face LLM Course
  • Low cost: subscriptions such as Coursera ($49 a month on the DeepLearning.AI page, October 2026) and paid AI assistant plans
  • University programmes: IIT Kharagpur's 8-month online executive programme lists ₹2,04,000 inclusive of taxes (October 2026)
  • Institute courses: classroom and live online courses vary widely by city and mode, so always get a written quote
  • Exam fees: $99 to $300 for the main vendor exams, about ₹8,700 to ₹26,400 at an example rate of ₹88 per dollar

Key takeaways

  1. Price alone tells you little. Compare duration, live teaching hours, projects, mentor reviews and career support side by side.
  2. You can learn the basics for free, but free paths rarely give you feedback on your code, mock interviews or a structured schedule.
  3. Budget for costs outside the course fee: exam vouchers, AI tool plans, API credits, cloud usage and a working laptop.
  4. Employers in the job descriptions we read on 24 October 2026 asked for Python, RAG and LLM skills far more often than any certificate.
  5. Before you pay, ask for the syllabus, a demo class, the refund policy and the exact EMI terms in writing.

1. Generative AI course fees at a glance

Short answer: Fees fall into five tiers: free official paths, low-cost subscriptions, online certificate programmes, university and IIT executive programmes, and classroom or live institute courses, plus exam fees on top.

Use this table as your starting map. Every figure comes from an official page we opened in October 2026. Where we could not verify a price on an official page, we describe it in words instead of guessing.

Course type Typical fee (as listed) Duration Best for Free official learning paths ₹0 (Google Cloud Generative AI Leader path; Hugging Face LLM Course) A few hours to a few weeks Beginners testing interest, managers Subscriptions and short courses Coursera $49 a month (DeepLearning.AI page, Oct 2026); some course prices not shown Self-paced, weeks to months Self-learners who need structure Online certificate programmes (edtech with foreign universities) Often in lakhs, close to university programmes; check each official page About 4 to 12 months Working professionals wanting a brand certificate University and IIT executive programmes IIT Kharagpur ₹2,04,000 incl. taxes (Oct 2026) About 8 months Experienced tech professionals Classroom and live online institutes Varies by city, mode and support; get a written quote About 2 to 4 months Freshers and career changers who want guided practice Certification exams $99 to $300 per attempt One exam Anyone wanting a vendor credential

Here is how the money usually flows when you plan a paid learning path:

  1. Course fee: the main payment, one time or in EMIs
  2. Learning tools: AI assistant plans, API credits, cloud usage during labs
  3. Exam fee: optional, in US dollars, per attempt
  4. Hardware and internet: a laptop and a stable connection for live classes and labs
  5. Your time: evenings and weekends for 2 to 8 months, depending on the course

2. Fees by course type, explained

Short answer: Each tier buys you something different: free paths buy knowledge, subscriptions buy structure, university programmes buy a brand and depth, and institute courses buy guided practice and career support.

Free official learning paths

Google Cloud offers a no-cost Generative AI Leader learning path of five courses that takes about 7 to 8 hours, according to the Google Cloud launch blog (October 2026 check). It explains concepts, Google Cloud products and business use, and it prepares you for the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader certification exam, which is paid.

For developers, the Hugging Face LLM Course says it is "completely free and without ads" (Hugging Face, October 2026). It teaches you to work with large language models (LLMs), which are AI models trained on huge amounts of text to predict the next word or token, using open-source libraries.

Be careful with the word "free" on other pages. Google's "Introduction to Generative AI" course on Coursera did not allow free auditing when we checked in October 2026, and the DeepLearning.AI "Generative AI for Everyone" page showed "Earn a certificate with PRO" without a price. So check the final checkout page before you assume a course is free.

Subscriptions and short courses

Subscription platforms charge monthly. The DeepLearning.AI page for "Generative AI with Large Language Models" said a Coursera subscription costs $49 a month and the first module is free to preview (October 2026). The course runs about 13 hours and covers transformers, fine-tuning, LoRA and RLHF.

The IBM Generative AI Engineering Professional Certificate on Coursera is a 16-course series of about 6 months at 6 hours a week, included with Coursera Plus, with financial aid available (Coursera, October 2026). We did not verify the Coursera Plus price in India, so check it on the site.

This tier suits you if you are disciplined and only need a structured path. You usually get recorded videos, quizzes and graded labs, but little live help.

Online certificate programmes from edtech platforms

Large edtech platforms run online GenAI and AI programmes, often with a foreign university or a cloud vendor named on the certificate. When we checked official pages in October 2026, these were usually priced in lakhs, much closer to university programmes than to institute courses, and they ran for about 4 to 12 months with weekend live sessions.

Some include GenAI as a few modules inside a broader AI and machine learning programme. Read the module list before you compare prices, because a "full AI programme" and a "GenAI-only programme" are not the same purchase.

University and IIT executive programmes

IIT Kharagpur's online Executive Post Graduate Certificate in Generative AI & Agentic AI runs for 8 months, fully live online, taught by IIT Kharagpur CSE faculty (IIT Kharagpur, October 2026). The programme page lists a total fee of ₹2,04,000 inclusive of taxes, a ₹10,000 seat block amount and EMI from ₹6,825 a month. IIT Kharagpur's own blog mentions ₹1,99,000, so treat the fee as about ₹2 lakh and confirm the current figure before paying. The eligibility mentions 2 years of tech experience, so this is not a fresher course.

Searchers also look up fees for other IIT and IIM programmes, such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Patna and IIT Roorkee. We could not confirm those fees on official pages in October 2026, so we do not list them. Only trust the figure shown on the institute's own programme page on the day you apply.

Classroom and live online institute courses

Training institutes in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai run 2 to 4 month GenAI courses in classroom, live online and recorded formats. Fees vary a lot by mode: recorded plans cost the least, live online sits in the middle and classroom with lab support costs the most. Many institutes show a discounted "offer" price next to a higher "was" price, so ask what the offer includes and when it ends.

This tier suits freshers, testers, developers and analysts who want someone to check their code, run mock interviews and keep them on a schedule. You can see one example of this tier, with its listed fees, in the section on our own course near the end of this guide.

3. What drives the fee

Short answer: Six things decide most of the price: duration, live versus recorded teaching, project and mentor time, placement help, the certificate brand and the tools and labs included.

Duration and depth

A 45-minute introduction and an 8-month executive programme are both called "GenAI courses". Longer courses usually cover the full stack: Python, machine learning basics, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, agents and deployment. RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) means the model looks up your documents before answering, which reduces made-up answers. Fine-tuning means training an existing model further on your own data.

Live, recorded or classroom

Recorded courses are cheapest because one recording serves thousands of learners. Live online classes need a trainer's time for every batch. Classroom courses add rent, labs and in-person support, so they cost the most. Live and classroom formats also let you ask questions in the moment, which matters when your code breaks at 11 pm before a project review.

Projects and mentor reviews

A course that only shows you projects is cheaper than one where a mentor reviews your code, gives feedback and makes you rebuild. Ask how many projects you build yourself and who reviews them.

Placement help

Resume reviews, mock interviews, interview scheduling and a placement officer all cost the institute money, so they push up the fee. Placement assistance is support with your job search, not a guaranteed job. Ask for specifics, not slogans.

Certificate brand

An IIT or a foreign university name on the certificate adds a lot to the price. Institute completion certificates cost less. Vendor certifications from Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, NVIDIA or Databricks are separate exams with their own fees, and most courses do not include the voucher.

Tools, cloud labs and batch size

Some courses include cloud lab accounts or API credits, and some expect you to pay for them. Smaller batches mean more attention per learner and usually a higher fee.

Fee driver Lowers the fee Raises the fee Format Recorded videos Live classes, classroom labs Duration Short intro course 3 to 12 month programme Feedback Auto-graded quizzes Mentor code reviews, one-on-one help Career support None Mock interviews, placement officer Certificate Completion certificate IIT or university certificate Labs Bring your own accounts Cloud labs or credits included

4. What you get for the fee: a good course checklist

Short answer: A good GenAI course in 2026 teaches what job descriptions ask for, makes you build real projects and gives you feedback, and it says clearly what is and is not included.

In the 12 GenAI job descriptions we read on 24 October 2026 (Naukri and LinkedIn listings from firms such as TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, PwC, Wells Fargo and JPMorganChase), every one asked for Python and LLM skills, 11 asked for RAG and 8 named LangChain. Evaluation, hallucination checks, agent frameworks and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud also came up often. A hallucination is a confident but wrong answer from a model. Use this as your test of whether a syllabus is current.

What one line of syllabus you should expect at each tier:

  • Free paths: concepts, prompting and one platform's tools; little coding feedback
  • Subscriptions: structured videos and graded labs on transformers, LLMs and fine-tuning
  • Institute courses: Python to LLMs, RAG, vector databases, LangChain, agents and cloud deployment, with projects
  • University programmes: deeper theory plus GenAI and agentic systems, with faculty-led sessions

For the full module-by-module list with weeks and tools, see our Generative AI syllabus guide.

Your checklist before you pay:

  1. Python basics are taught or clearly listed as a prerequisite
  2. LLMs and prompt engineering, with hands-on practice, not only slides
  3. Embeddings and a vector database such as Chroma, FAISS, Pinecone or Weaviate (an embedding turns text into numbers so similar meanings sit close together; a vector database stores and searches those numbers)
  4. RAG built end to end on your own documents
  5. Fine-tuning basics, including LoRA, a cheap way to adapt a model by training a small set of extra parameters
  6. Agents, meaning LLM programs that plan steps and call tools, with at least one framework
  7. Evaluation: how to test answers for accuracy and hallucination
  8. Deployment on at least one cloud platform
  9. At least 3 projects you build yourself, with code on GitHub
  10. A named trainer with stated experience, and a demo class before you pay
  11. Written details on fees, EMI, refunds and what career support includes

5. Generative AI certification exam fees in rupees

Short answer: Vendor exams cost $99 to $300 per attempt in October 2026, which is about ₹8,700 to ₹26,400 at an example rate of ₹88 per US dollar, and most courses do not include the voucher.

All exam fees below come from the official exam pages, read in October 2026. The rupee column uses an example rate of ₹88 per US dollar for illustration only. Your bank's live rate, taxes and any card charges will change the final amount.

Exam (issuer) Official fee About in rupees at ₹88/$ (example) Level Generative AI Leader (Google Cloud) $99 plus tax ₹8,712 Foundational, non-technical AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AIF-C01 (AWS) $100 ₹8,800 Foundational NCA-GENL or NCA-GENM (NVIDIA) $125 each ₹11,000 Associate Generative AI Engineer Associate (Databricks) $200 ₹17,600 Associate Professional Machine Learning Engineer (Google Cloud) $200 plus tax ₹17,600 Professional AWS Certified Generative AI Developer, AIP-C01 (AWS) $300 ₹26,400 Professional

Key details from the official pages (October 2026):

  • Google Cloud Generative AI Leader: 90 minutes, 50 to 60 multiple-choice questions, valid 3 years, no prerequisites, online or at a Pearson VUE test centre, registered through CertMetrics.
  • AWS Certified AI Practitioner: 65 questions in 90 minutes, valid 3 years. The AWS Generative AI Developer Professional exam has 75 questions in 180 minutes.
  • NVIDIA: 50 to 60 questions in 1 hour, valid 2 years.
  • Databricks: 45 scored questions in 90 minutes, valid 2 years.
  • Microsoft: Azure AI Fundamentals now uses exam AI-901, which has replaced AI-900. The current associate is the Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate (exam AI-103). Microsoft prices its exams by the country where you take them, so check the price on Microsoft Learn when you book. The older AI-102 certification is retired, so do not pay for prep aimed at it.

Do you need an exam at all? Only one of the 12 job descriptions we read (PwC) said AI or GenAI certifications were "preferred", and none required one. A certificate can help a non-technical profile or a cloud-focused role, but projects carry more weight for developer roles. Our Generative AI certification guide compares every exam in detail.

6. Hidden costs to budget for

Short answer: Beyond the course fee, plan for AI tool plans, API credits, cloud usage, exam retakes, taxes, a working laptop and your own time.

AI assistant plans

You can learn a lot on free tiers. As of October 2026, Google's Gemini app shows a "Free of charge" tier in India and Google AI Pro at ₹399 a month, and Anthropic's Claude pricing page shows a Free plan and Pro at $20 a month. You rarely need a paid plan for a course, but some learners buy one month for heavier project work.

API credits

When you build an app that calls a model through an API (application programming interface, the way your code talks to a model service), you usually pay per token. A token is a small piece of text, about 4 characters on average according to Google's Gemini docs. Prices differ by model and change often, so set a spending limit in your account before you start. Ask your course whether it provides credits or uses free or open models for labs.

Cloud and developer tools

Many developer tools have free tiers as of October 2026: Hugging Face offers free CPU Basic hardware for Spaces, Pinecone has a free Starter plan, Weaviate Cloud has an always-free tier, Chroma Cloud gives $5 of free credits, LangSmith has a $0 single seat for up to 5,000 base traces a month, and GitHub Copilot and Cursor both offer free plans. Cloud platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry (formerly Azure AI Foundry) and Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform (formerly Vertex AI) charge for usage, so switch off resources after every lab.

Hardware and internet

You do not need an expensive GPU laptop to learn GenAI. Most labs call hosted models or run in the cloud. A reasonably recent laptop and a stable connection for live classes are enough. If you want to run open models locally with a tool such as Ollama, more memory helps.

Taxes, retakes and renewals

Check whether a quoted fee includes taxes. IIT Kharagpur's page, for example, says its fee is inclusive of taxes, while some programmes quote a price "plus GST". Exam fees are per attempt, so a retake costs the full fee again. Certifications also expire after 2 or 3 years, and renewal can mean another exam.

Your time

A 3-month course with several hours of practice every week is a real commitment alongside a job or final-year studies. Missing weeks is the most common hidden cost, because you pay for classes you never use.

Hidden cost Can you avoid it? Tip AI assistant plans Mostly Use free tiers; pay one month only if needed API credits Partly Set spending limits; use free or open models for practice Cloud usage Partly Use free tiers; delete resources after labs Exam fee and retakes Yes, if you skip the exam Use free practice questions before booking Laptop and internet No A mid-range laptop is fine for most courses

7. EMI and how to pay

Short answer: Most paid programmes offer EMI, but always ask whether it is truly no-cost, what the processing fee is and what happens to the remaining EMIs if you drop out.

Many programmes split the fee into monthly instalments. IIT Kharagpur lists EMI from ₹6,825 a month and a ₹10,000 seat block amount (October 2026). Institutes often offer EMI on their higher plans through card or finance partners.

Questions to ask about EMI:

  1. Is the EMI no-cost, or is interest built into the price?
  2. Is there a processing fee or down payment?
  3. Which cards, banks or finance partners are accepted?
  4. If I leave the course, do I still owe the remaining EMIs?
  5. Is there a discount for paying the full fee upfront?

Safe payment habits:

  • Pay only to the institute's official account, payment link or office, and get a receipt with the GST details if applicable
  • Get the fee, plan name and inclusions in writing (email or invoice)
  • Read the refund policy before paying, especially any deadline for refund requests
  • Ask whether your employer will sponsor or reimburse the course; the WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025 notes that corporate sponsorship plays a significant role in GenAI course enrolments in India

8. Free and low-cost paths

Short answer: You can learn GenAI foundations for almost nothing by combining free official courses, free tool tiers and your own projects, but you will have to supply the discipline and feedback yourself.

Here is a low-cost path that uses only resources named in this post:

Weeks What to do Cost 1 to 2 Google Cloud's no-cost Generative AI Leader learning path for concepts ₹0 3 to 6 Python practice and the Hugging Face LLM Course ₹0 7 to 8 Build a small RAG chatbot using a free vector database tier ₹0 to small API spend 9 to 10 Learn prompt engineering and evaluation on free AI assistant tiers ₹0 11 to 12 Push 2 to 3 projects to GitHub and write a short README for each ₹0 Optional One month of a subscription course for graded labs About $49 (Coursera, Oct 2026)

If you are new, start with our Generative AI for beginners guide, then pick ideas from our Generative AI projects for beginners post.

When free is enough:

  • You already code in Python and can debug on your own
  • You only need concepts for a manager, marketer or business role
  • You want to test your interest before paying

When a paid course is worth it:

  • You are a fresher or career changer and need structure and deadlines
  • You want someone to review your code and projects
  • You want mock interviews and job search support
  • You learn better live than from videos

9. Fee versus salary: a realistic value check

Short answer: GenAI pay is promising, but freshers should judge a course by the skills and portfolio it builds, not by salary promises, because entry-level openings are a small share of listings.

AmbitionBox showed a typical range of ₹7.3 to 8.1 lakh a year for a Gen AI Developer in India, based on 291 salaries covering 0 to 7 years' experience (October 2026). The same site showed ₹9.2 to 10.1 lakh a year for a Generative AI Engineer in India, based on 632 salaries covering 0 to 13 years, and ₹7.6 to 10 lakh for a Generative AI Engineer in Hyderabad (108 salaries). These are typical ranges across many experience levels, not fresher offers.

For freshers, the picture is more modest. A Naukri search for "generative ai" showed about 10,953 results across India on 24 October 2026, but the same search filtered to 0 years' experience returned 284 results, many of them internships and some clearly senior roles mis-tagged. These are keyword-match counts, not a count of open jobs. Stipends on GenAI internships seen on Naukri in October 2026 ranged from unpaid to ₹25,000 a month, and a recruiter listing for 2026 B.Tech freshers in Hyderabad showed a CTC of ₹4 LPA.

How to read this:

  • A lower-priced course that makes you build strong projects can give better value than a costly one you only watch
  • An expensive programme pays off faster if you already have tech experience, since most listings ask for several years
  • Treat any course page salary table without a named source as marketing, not data

For more salary detail by role and city, read our Generative AI salary in India guide.

10. How to judge value: questions to ask before you pay

Short answer: Ask about the syllabus, the trainer, the projects, the support and the terms, and get the answers in writing before you pay anything.

About the syllabus

  1. Does it cover RAG, vector databases, agents, evaluation and cloud deployment, or only prompting and tools?
  2. When was the syllabus last updated, and does it use current model and platform names?
  3. Which tools will I actually use hands-on?

About the trainer

  1. Who teaches, and what GenAI project work have they done?
  2. Can I attend a demo class with the same trainer?
  3. How are doubts handled outside class hours?

About projects

  1. How many projects do I build myself, and who reviews them?
  2. Will my projects be good enough to show on GitHub and in interviews?
  3. Are API credits or cloud labs included, or do I pay separately?

About career support

  1. What does placement assistance include: resume reviews, mock interviews, interview scheduling?
  2. Can you show verifiable outcomes, not just logos of companies?
  3. Is there any job guarantee in writing, and what are its conditions?

About fees and terms

  1. Is the price inclusive of taxes?
  2. What is the refund policy and deadline?
  3. Can I switch batches or modes if my schedule changes?

Red flags when comparing fees:

  • A "100% job guarantee" with no written terms
  • A list of big company logos presented as placements without names or dates
  • Salary tables with no source
  • Pressure to pay today because the "offer ends tonight"
  • A syllabus that still names retired exams such as AI-102 or shut-down tools such as the Sora 2 API, which OpenAI's developer docs say was shut down on 24 September 2026
  • No demo class or no named trainer

11. Which option fits you?

Short answer: Match the fee tier to your background and goal: free paths for exploring, subscriptions for disciplined self-learners, institute courses for guided job preparation and IIT programmes for experienced professionals.

Your profile Best-fit option Why B.Tech, BCA, B.Sc or MCA fresher Live online or classroom institute course, plus free resources Structure, projects, mock interviews Python developer or tester Free courses plus a focused project-based course You can self-learn basics; projects and RAG practice matter most Data analyst Institute course or subscription with Python and RAG labs Bridges analytics into LLM apps Marketer or manager Free Google Cloud path, optional Generative AI Leader exam Concepts and business use, no coding needed Tech professional with 2+ years University or IIT executive programme, or a focused course Depth and brand, if the budget fits Cloud engineer Vendor learning paths plus AWS, Google Cloud or Microsoft exam Platform credentials match the role

Frequently asked questions

What is the fee for a generative AI course in India?

Generative AI course fees in India range from zero for free official learning paths to about ₹2 lakh for an IIT executive programme. IIT Kharagpur's 8-month online programme lists ₹2,04,000 inclusive of taxes in October 2026. Classroom and live online institute courses usually fall in between and vary by city, mode and support. Certification exams cost extra, usually $99 to $300 per attempt.

How much does a generative AI course cost?

The cost depends on the type of course you choose. Free official paths cost nothing, subscriptions such as Coursera were listed at $49 a month in October 2026, institute courses vary by format, and IIT Kharagpur's executive programme lists about ₹2 lakh. Add possible costs for exams, AI tool plans, API credits and cloud usage when you plan your total budget.

Why do generative AI course fees vary so much?

Fees vary because courses differ in duration, teaching format, project feedback, career support and certificate brand. A short recorded course costs far less than a live programme with mentor reviews and mock interviews. An IIT or university name adds a lot to the price. Compare what is included, not just the headline number, before deciding which course gives you better value.

Are there free generative AI courses?

Yes, some official courses are free. Google Cloud offers a no-cost Generative AI Leader learning path of five courses taking about 7 to 8 hours, and the Hugging Face LLM Course says it is completely free and without ads. Check the checkout page for other courses, because some that look free charge for full access or certificates.

Can I get a free generative AI course with a certificate?

Free courses rarely include a paid certificate. The Google Cloud learning path is free, but the Generative AI Leader certification exam costs $99 plus tax. Some platforms charge for certificates even when videos can be watched, and Google's Introduction to Generative AI course on Coursera did not allow free auditing in October 2026. Always check what the free option includes.

What is the IIT generative AI course fee?

IIT Kharagpur's online Executive Post Graduate Certificate in Generative AI and Agentic AI lists a total fee of ₹2,04,000 inclusive of taxes in October 2026, with EMI from ₹6,825 a month. Its blog mentions ₹1,99,000, so treat it as about ₹2 lakh. We could not verify fees for other IIT programmes on official pages, so check each institute's own page.

Is the IIT Kharagpur generative AI course suitable for freshers?

It is mainly aimed at working professionals. The programme page mentions 2 years of tech experience in its eligibility, and it runs for 8 months fully live online with IIT Kharagpur faculty. Freshers usually get better value from free resources plus a shorter, project-based course that builds a portfolio for entry-level roles and internships.

How much does a generative AI certification exam cost?

Vendor exams cost $99 to $300 per attempt in October 2026. Google Cloud Generative AI Leader is $99 plus tax, AWS AI Practitioner is $100, NVIDIA's associate exams are $125, Databricks and Google's Professional ML Engineer are $200, and AWS Generative AI Developer Professional is $300. Microsoft prices its exams by country, so check when booking.

How much is a generative AI exam fee in rupees?

At an example rate of ₹88 per US dollar, a $99 exam is about ₹8,712, a $125 exam about ₹11,000, a $200 exam about ₹17,600 and a $300 exam about ₹26,400. This rate is only for illustration. Your bank's live rate, taxes and any card charges will change the final amount you pay.

Is a certification required to get a generative AI job?

No, certifications are rarely required. Of the 12 GenAI job descriptions we read in October 2026, only PwC said AI or GenAI certifications were preferred, and none required one. Employers asked far more often for Python, LLM skills and RAG. A certificate can help non-technical or cloud-focused profiles, but projects matter more for developer roles.

What hidden costs come with a generative AI course?

Hidden costs include AI assistant plans, API credits for model calls, cloud usage during labs, exam fees and retakes, certification renewals, taxes, a laptop and internet. Many tools have free tiers as of October 2026, so you can keep these costs low by using free plans, setting spending limits and deleting cloud resources after each lab.

Do I need to pay for API credits or cloud during a generative AI course?

Sometimes. When you call a model through an API, you usually pay per token, and cloud platforms charge for usage. Many tools offer free tiers, such as Pinecone's free Starter plan and Hugging Face's free CPU Basic Spaces. Ask your course whether credits are included, and set a spending limit before you start building.

Do I need an expensive laptop for a generative AI course?

No, you do not need an expensive GPU laptop. Most course labs call hosted models through APIs or run in the cloud. A reasonably recent laptop and a stable internet connection for live classes are enough for most learners. More memory helps only if you want to run open models locally with a tool such as Ollama.

Is GST charged on generative AI course fees?

It depends on how the fee is quoted. Some programmes, such as IIT Kharagpur, say their fee is inclusive of taxes, while others quote a price plus GST. Always ask whether the price you are shown includes taxes, and get an invoice with the tax details so you know the exact final amount before paying.

Do generative AI courses offer EMI?

Yes, many paid courses offer EMI. IIT Kharagpur lists EMI from ₹6,825 a month with a ₹10,000 seat block amount, and institutes often offer EMI on higher plans. Before choosing EMI, ask whether it is truly no-cost, whether there is a processing fee, and whether you still owe instalments if you leave the course early.

Online or classroom generative AI course: which is cheaper?

Recorded courses are usually the cheapest, live online courses cost more and classroom courses cost the most because they add labs, rent and in-person support. The extra fee for live or classroom formats buys real-time doubt clearing, mentor code reviews and more accountability, which many freshers and career changers find worth paying for.

What is the generative AI course fee in Hyderabad?

Fees in Hyderabad vary by institute, mode and support. As one example, Brolly Academy's 3-month Generative AI course listed Video Recording at ₹14,999, Online at ₹35,000 and Classroom at ₹40,000 in October 2026, with EMI on the Classroom and Online plans. Compare written quotes, demo classes and what each plan includes before you choose.

What is the duration of a generative AI course?

Durations range from a few hours to about a year. Google Cloud's free Generative AI Leader path takes about 7 to 8 hours, the IBM certificate on Coursera runs about 6 months at 6 hours a week, institute courses usually take 2 to 4 months, and IIT Kharagpur's executive programme runs for 8 months. Longer courses usually cover deployment and agents.

What should a good generative AI course include?

A good course teaches Python basics, LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings and vector databases, RAG, fine-tuning with LoRA, agents, evaluation and cloud deployment. It should make you build at least three projects yourself, with code on GitHub and mentor reviews. It should also name its trainer, offer a demo class and state fees, refunds and support in writing.

Do generative AI courses include placement assistance?

Many institute courses include placement assistance such as resume reviews, mock interviews and interview scheduling, and some offer a dedicated placement officer. Placement assistance is support with your job search, not a guaranteed job. Ask exactly what is included and whether the institute can show verifiable outcomes rather than only a list of company logos.

Is an expensive generative AI course worth it?

An expensive course is worth it only if it fits your background and goals. IIT and university programmes make more sense for professionals with tech experience who want depth and a brand certificate. For freshers, a lower-priced course that makes you build strong projects with feedback can give better value than a costly one you mostly watch.

What salary can I expect after a generative AI course?

Salaries depend on your skills and experience, not on the course alone. AmbitionBox showed typical ranges of ₹7.3 to 8.1 lakh a year for Gen AI Developers and ₹9.2 to 10.1 lakh for Generative AI Engineers in India in October 2026, across many experience levels. Fresher roles seen were lower, with internship stipends from unpaid to ₹25,000 a month.

Can I learn generative AI for free instead of paying?

Yes, you can learn the foundations for free with official courses such as Google Cloud's learning path and the Hugging Face LLM Course, plus free tiers of AI tools and vector databases. Free learning works best if you already code and can debug on your own. Paid courses add structure, code reviews, mock interviews and job search support.

What should I check before paying for a generative AI course?

Check that the syllabus covers RAG, vector databases, agents, evaluation and deployment, and ask who teaches and what projects you build. Attend a demo class first. Get the fee, tax details, EMI terms, refund policy and career support in writing. Avoid courses with unsourced salary tables, unwritten job guarantees or company logos presented as placements.

Which generative AI course is best for beginners on a budget?

Beginners on a budget should start with free resources such as Google Cloud's no-cost Generative AI Leader path and the Hugging Face LLM Course, then build small projects on free tool tiers. If you need structure and feedback, Brolly Academy's recorded plan at ₹14,999 is one low-cost guided option, and live plans add mock interviews and mentor support.
