Quick answer
In October 2026 the only major vendor exam built specifically around agentic AI is the NVIDIA-Certified Professional: Agentic AI (NCP-AAI), and the Microsoft AI-103 exam covers agentic solutions as one of its main areas. Other big cloud exams from AWS, Google Cloud and Databricks test generative AI skills that agents are built on, but they are not agent certifications by name. Free or low-cost course certificates from DeepLearning.AI, Hugging Face and IBM on Coursera teach agent building well. Whatever you pick, employers in India look hardest at what you have built, so pair any certificate with two or three working agent projects.
- Agent-specific vendor exam: NVIDIA NCP-AAI ($200, valid 2 years, registration showed "Coming soon")
- Microsoft route: AI-103, Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate (AI-102 is retired)
- Cloud generative AI exams: AWS Generative AI Developer Professional, Google Cloud Generative AI Leader, Databricks Generative AI Engineer Associate
- Free learning with certificates: Hugging Face Agents Course, DeepLearning.AI Agentic AI (free to audit), IBM RAG and Agentic AI on Coursera
- The real proof: a GitHub portfolio of agents that call tools, use RAG and handle errors
Key takeaways
- NVIDIA's NCP-AAI is the clearest "agentic AI" vendor certification today: intermediate level, 60 to 70 questions, 120 minutes, $200, valid for 2 years (NVIDIA, October 2026).
- Microsoft retired the Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102). The newer Microsoft exam on AI apps and agents is AI-103 (Microsoft Learn, October 2026).
- AWS, Google Cloud and Databricks certify generative AI skills. They help agent builders, but none of them is an agent-only exam.
- A course completion certificate shows you finished training. A vendor certification shows you passed a proctored exam. Both are useful, but they are not the same thing.
- In Indian hiring, a certificate can get your resume noticed. Working projects and clear answers in interviews get you the offer.
1. What is an agentic AI certification?
Short answer: An agentic AI certification is a credential that shows you can design, build or manage AI systems that plan and take actions towards a goal, usually by calling tools, using data and working with other agents.
First, a few plain definitions, because certification pages use a lot of jargon.
- LLM (large language model): the AI model, such as GPT, Claude or Gemini, that reads text and writes text. In an agent it acts as the "brain" that decides what to do next.
- Tool calling: the LLM asks your code to run a function, such as "search flights" or "query the database", and then uses the result.
- RAG (retrieval-augmented generation): the agent looks up relevant documents first and then answers using them, so it relies less on memory and makes fewer things up.
- MCP (Model Context Protocol): an open standard that lets agents connect to tools and data sources in one common way.
- Orchestration: the logic that controls the steps, the order and the hand-offs between one or more agents.
An agentic AI system combines these pieces. It takes a goal, breaks it into steps, calls tools, checks the results and keeps going until the job is done or a human needs to step in. If you want the full picture first, read our guide on what agentic AI is.
When people search for "agentic AI certification", they usually mean one of three things:
None of these is a licence. Nobody needs a certificate to build agents. But a good credential can give you structure while you learn and a signal on your resume when you apply.
2. Is there an official agentic AI certification in 2026?
Short answer: Yes, but only a few. NVIDIA has an agent-specific professional exam, Microsoft's AI-103 includes agentic solutions, and the other major clouds certify generative AI more broadly.
Agentic AI moved very fast between 2024 and 2026. Certification bodies move slower, because a proper exam needs a fixed syllabus, a question bank and a beta period. So in October 2026 the picture looks like this:
- Built around agents: NVIDIA-Certified Professional: Agentic AI (NCP-AAI).
- Agents as a major exam area: Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate (exam AI-103), which includes "Implement generative AI and agentic solutions".
- Generative AI foundations that agents depend on: AWS Certified Generative AI Developer Professional, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, Google Cloud Generative AI Leader and Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer Associate.
On Google, there is one point to be clear about. We found no Google Cloud certification that is specific to agents, and the Generative AI Leader exam guide does not list agents as a named topic (Google Cloud certification page, October 2026).
You will also see searches for agentic AI credentials from other vendors, such as Oracle, UiPath, Salesforce and GitHub. Some of these are popular searches in India. We have not verified their current exam details for this guide, so we do not list them here. If one of those platforms is central to your job, open the vendor's own certification page and check the exam code, price, syllabus and validity yourself before you pay. Ignore lists that copy details from other blogs, because exam codes and prices change often.
3. Vendor certifications for agentic AI, one by one
Short answer: Start with NVIDIA NCP-AAI if you want an agent-named credential, AI-103 if you work on Microsoft Azure, AWS Generative AI Developer Professional if you build on AWS, and Databricks if your agents sit on top of a data platform.
All facts below come from the official certification pages, checked on 23 October 2026. Prices are in US dollars as listed. Indian candidates may see local taxes or a different local price at checkout, so always confirm on the booking screen.
NVIDIA-Certified Professional: Agentic AI (NCP-AAI)
- Issuer: NVIDIA
- Level: intermediate (professional)
- Format: 60 to 70 questions in 120 minutes, online proctored
- Cost: $200
- Validity: 2 years
- Recommended experience: 1 to 2 years of AI or ML experience
- Booking status: registration showed "Coming soon" on 23 October 2026
According to the NVIDIA NCP-AAI certification page (October 2026), this is a professional-level exam, not a beginner badge. It suits developers and ML engineers who already build with LLMs and want a credential with "agentic AI" in its name. Because registration was not yet open when we checked, keep an eye on the page and prepare in the meantime.
Who it suits: working developers, ML engineers and solution architects with at least a year of hands-on AI work. Freshers can aim for it later, after building real projects.
Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate (AI-103)
- Issuer: Microsoft
- Level: intermediate (associate)
- Format: 120-minute exam
- Skills: Python and Microsoft Foundry, including "Implement generative AI and agentic solutions"
- Cost: varies by country (Microsoft shows the local price when you schedule)
The Microsoft Learn AI-103 page (October 2026) describes this as the newer Microsoft exam on AI apps and agents. It fits developers who build on Azure. If you plan to use Microsoft's own agent tools, note that Microsoft now points developers to Microsoft Agent Framework, which replaced Semantic Kernel and the older AutoGen project. Check the page for current renewal rules, as Microsoft manages renewal through Microsoft Learn.
A quick warning: many older blog posts still recommend the Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102). Microsoft Learn now says that certification and its renewal assessment are retired (Microsoft Learn, October 2026). Do not buy AI-102 study material for a new attempt.
Who it suits: .NET or Python developers in Microsoft shops, Azure cloud engineers, and anyone working at a company that runs on Microsoft 365 and Azure. Many Indian IT services firms and global capability centres (GCCs) run large Microsoft practices, so this exam fits those career paths well.
AWS Certified Generative AI Developer Professional
- Issuer: Amazon Web Services
- Level: professional
- Format: 75 questions in 180 minutes
- Cost: 300 USD
- Recommended experience: 2+ years with AWS and 1 year with generative AI
The AWS certification page (October 2026) positions this for experienced builders. It is not branded as an agent exam, but building generative AI apps on AWS today often involves agents, and AWS now presents Amazon Bedrock AgentCore as its platform for production agents. Check the AWS page for the current validity period before you book.
Who it suits: cloud developers already on AWS who want a senior-level credential. It is the most expensive and longest exam in this list, so do not attempt it as your first certification.
AWS Certified AI Practitioner
- Issuer: Amazon Web Services
- Level: foundational
- Format: 65 questions in 90 minutes
- Cost: 100 USD
- Validity: 3 years
- Prerequisites: none
This is an entry-level AWS exam on AI and generative AI concepts (AWS certification page, October 2026). It is not about building agents, but it is a gentle first step for students, testers, business analysts and managers who want a recognised cloud badge before they go deeper.
Who it suits: beginners and non-developers who want vocabulary and confidence, not deep build skills.
Google Cloud Generative AI Leader
- Issuer: Google Cloud
- Level: foundational, business focused
- Format: 50 to 60 questions in 90 minutes
- Cost: $99
- Validity: 3 years
- Prerequisites: none
This certification checks your understanding of generative AI and how to use it in a business (Google Cloud certification page, October 2026). Agents are not a named topic. Pick it if you lead teams or projects, not if you want to prove you can code agents.
Who it suits: team leads, product managers, pre-sales and consultants.
Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer Associate
- Issuer: Databricks
- Level: associate
- Format: 45 scored questions in 90 minutes
- Cost: $200
- Validity: 2 years
- Recommended experience: 6+ months of hands-on work
This exam targets engineers who build generative AI applications on the Databricks platform (Databricks certification page, October 2026). If your company keeps its data in Databricks, agents that use RAG over company data are a natural fit, and this credential lines up with that work.
Who it suits: data engineers and ML engineers in data-heavy teams, especially in banking, retail and analytics GCCs.
4. Course certificates and free learning programmes
Short answer: If you want to learn agent building before paying for an exam, start with the Hugging Face Agents Course (free) or DeepLearning.AI's Agentic AI course (free to audit), then move to the IBM programme on Coursera for a longer, structured path.
Course certificates do not carry the weight of a proctored vendor exam, but they teach more hands-on skills per hour. Here are three official programmes worth knowing.
Hugging Face Agents Course
The Hugging Face Agents Course (October 2026) is free. It covers smolagents, LangGraph and LlamaIndex, and it offers two certificates: a fundamentals certificate after Unit 1 and a completion certificate for finishing the course. It is one of the best ways to see how different frameworks approach the same problem.
Who it suits: students, freshers and developers who want a free, practical start.
DeepLearning.AI "Agentic AI" with Andrew Ng
The DeepLearning.AI Agentic AI course (October 2026) is intermediate level and runs 9 hours 55 minutes. It teaches four core design patterns: reflection, tool use, planning and multi-agent collaboration. You can audit it for free. The certificate needs a Pro membership, listed at $25 per month when billed annually.
Who it suits: developers who know basic Python and want a clear mental model of how agents are designed.
IBM RAG and Agentic AI Professional Certificate (Coursera)
This IBM programme on Coursera has 10 courses at an advanced level and covers LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AG2, BeeAI and MCP (Coursera, October 2026). The page shows "Enroll for free", and Coursera's usual paid options apply if you want the certificate. Check the page for the current terms in India.
Who it suits: developers who want a long, structured, multi-framework path and a professional certificate from a known brand.
Institute course certificates
Many training institutes, including Brolly Academy, give a course completion certificate. Treat these as proof of training, not as vendor certifications. Judge them by the syllabus, the projects you build and the support you get with interviews. Our agentic AI syllabus guide gives you a checklist for judging any course.
5. Agentic AI certifications compared
Short answer: NVIDIA NCP-AAI and Microsoft AI-103 are the most agent-focused exams; AWS AI Practitioner and Google Cloud Generative AI Leader are the easiest entry points; Hugging Face and DeepLearning.AI are the cheapest ways to learn.
All details are from the official pages, checked on 23 October 2026.
And the learning programmes:
6. How to choose the right agentic AI certification
Short answer: Choose by your current role and the platform your target employers use, not by which certificate sounds most impressive.
Ask yourself three questions before you spend money.
- What can I do today? If you cannot yet write a Python script that calls an API, a professional exam is too early. Learn first.
- Which platform do my target companies use? An Azure-heavy employer values AI-103 more than an AWS exam, and the reverse is also true.
- Do I want to build, or to lead? Builders need developer exams. Managers and analysts get more from foundational or business-focused credentials.
Here is a simple guide by profile.
A few more tips:
- One exam at a time. Two half-prepared attempts cost more than one well-prepared pass.
- Match the exam to your projects. If you build on Azure, your projects and AI-103 support each other in interviews.
- Watch the dates. AI exams change fast. AI-102 was retired, and NCP-AAI booking had not opened when we checked. Always read the official page the week you plan to book.
- Be careful with "agentic AI certified" badges from unknown bodies. If the issuer is not a platform owner, a recognised university or a well-known learning platform, it adds little to your resume.
7. How to prepare for an agentic AI certification
Short answer: Read the official exam guide first, learn the core agent concepts, build small projects on the exam's platform, then practise with official sample questions before you book.
This eight-week plan works for most intermediate exams if you study about 8 to 10 hours a week. Stretch it if you are new to Python or to the cloud. For a full skills path, see our agentic AI roadmap.
Weeks 1 and 2: Foundations
- Download the official exam guide or skills outline and turn every topic into a checklist.
- Refresh Python, REST APIs and JSON.
- Learn how LLMs work: prompts, tokens, temperature, context windows and structured output.
Weeks 3 and 4: Core agent skills
- Practise tool calling: define a tool, let the model call it, return the result.
- Build a small RAG pipeline over your own documents.
- Learn the common design patterns. Anthropic's "Building effective agents" guide (December 2024) describes prompt chaining, routing, parallelisation, orchestrator-workers and evaluator-optimizer. DeepLearning.AI teaches reflection, tool use, planning and multi-agent collaboration.
Weeks 5 and 6: Platform and framework
- Pick the framework or service your exam expects. For AI-103 that means Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft's agent tooling. For AWS, it means Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore. For a vendor-neutral path, LangGraph or the OpenAI Agents SDK are good choices.
- Learn MCP: connect your agent to at least one MCP server.
- Add memory and multi-step orchestration to a project.
Weeks 7 and 8: Safety, evaluation and practice
- Add guardrails: input checks, output validation, limits on risky tools and a human approval step for high-risk actions. OpenAI's "A practical guide to building agents" lists these kinds of guardrails.
- Learn basic evaluation: test cases, success rates, cost and latency tracking.
- Take the official practice test or sample questions. Review every wrong answer against the docs.
- Book the exam only when you score well on practice questions in more than one sitting.
Study habits that help
- Use official docs as your main source. Exam questions follow the vendor's documentation, not third-party summaries.
- Avoid "dumps". Leaked question banks break exam rules, can get your certification revoked and leave you unable to answer interview questions.
- Explain it out loud. If you cannot explain why an agent needs a tool or a guardrail, you are not ready yet.
8. Does agentic AI certification matter to Indian employers?
Short answer: It helps, but it is rarely the deciding factor. Indian employers use certifications to shortlist, and then judge you on projects, problem solving and how well you explain your choices.
Here is an honest view of how certifications play out in Indian hiring in 2026.
Where certifications help most
- IT services companies and partner firms. Firms that are cloud partners of Microsoft, AWS or Google often value certified staff, because partner programmes count certifications. A relevant cloud exam can make you more useful on client projects.
- Career switchers. If your resume says "manual tester" or "support engineer", a recognised AI certification shows intent and basic knowledge, and gets you past the first filter.
- Freshers with no experience. A certificate shows discipline. It works best when it sits next to a GitHub link with real projects.
Where certifications help least
- Product startups. Founders and engineering leads usually want to see a working agent and talk through your code. A certificate rarely changes their decision.
- Senior roles. At five or more years, your shipped systems matter far more than any badge.
Job titles on Indian portals in October 2026 included Agentic AI Engineer, Generative AI Engineer, Agentic AI Architect and Agentic AI & Copilot Studio Developer (Naukri, October 2026). Notice how platform names, like Copilot Studio, appear in titles. That is a hint: platform skills, backed by a matching certification, can make your profile a direct fit for some roles.
What employers almost always test is whether you can build. Expect questions like "How would you stop your agent from calling the wrong tool?" or "How do you measure whether your agent is getting better?" No certificate answers those for you. For a full view of roles and hiring, read our guide to agentic AI jobs.
9. Portfolio projects: the proof that counts most
Short answer: Build two or three agents that solve real problems, put them on GitHub with a clear README, and record a short demo. This proves more than any single certificate.
A certificate says you know the concepts. A project shows you can apply them, debug them and make sensible trade-offs. The best portfolios show a range of skills.
Make each project easy for a recruiter to judge:
- README first. Explain the problem, the design, the tools used and how to run it, in plain English.
- Show the limits. List what the agent cannot do yet and how you would fix it. This shows maturity.
- Add tests and simple metrics. Even a small set of test questions with pass or fail results stands out.
- Record a two-minute demo. Many recruiters will watch a video before they read code.
- Link it everywhere. Put the GitHub link on your resume, LinkedIn and certification profile.
For more ideas with step-by-step guidance, see our list of AI agent projects.
10. Common mistakes to avoid
Short answer: Do not chase badges without building, do not study for retired exams, and do not trust certificate lists that you cannot trace to an official page.
- Collecting certificates instead of skills. Five badges and no GitHub projects look weaker than one exam and three good agents.
- Preparing for a retired exam. AI-102 is retired. Always check the status on the official page.
- Ignoring legacy warnings. Microsoft AutoGen is archived, and Microsoft points new users to Microsoft Agent Framework. Learn the current tool, not the old one.
- Paying before checking the syllabus. Compare a paid course's topics to the official exam guide and to real job descriptions first.
11. How Brolly Academy helps

Frequently asked questions
What is an agentic AI certification?
An agentic AI certification is a credential that shows you can build or manage AI systems that plan steps and take actions towards a goal. It can be a vendor exam, such as NVIDIA NCP-AAI or Microsoft AI-103, a professional certificate on a learning platform, or a course completion certificate from a training provider. Vendor exams are proctored and carry the most weight, while course certificates mainly prove you finished training.
Is there an official agentic AI certification?
Yes. In October 2026 the NVIDIA-Certified Professional: Agentic AI (NCP-AAI) is the main vendor exam built specifically around agents. Microsoft's AI-103 exam also includes implementing generative AI and agentic solutions. AWS, Google Cloud and Databricks offer generative AI certifications that support agent work, but they are not agent certifications by name.
Which agentic AI certification is best?
The best certification depends on your role and platform. NVIDIA NCP-AAI is the most agent-focused exam. AI-103 suits developers on Microsoft Azure. AWS Generative AI Developer Professional suits experienced AWS builders, and Databricks suits data engineers. Beginners should start with free courses from Hugging Face or DeepLearning.AI, or a foundational exam such as AWS AI Practitioner, before attempting a professional exam.

Is Andrew Ng's agentic AI course free?
DeepLearning.AI's Agentic AI course, taught by Andrew Ng, is free to audit. If you want the certificate, you need a Pro membership, listed at $25 per month when billed annually. The course is intermediate, runs just under ten hours and teaches four design patterns: reflection, tool use, planning and multi-agent collaboration.
Which agentic AI certification is best for beginners?
Beginners should start with free learning, such as the Hugging Face Agents Course or an audit of DeepLearning.AI's Agentic AI course. If you want a recognised exam early, AWS Certified AI Practitioner and Google Cloud Generative AI Leader have no prerequisites. Move to AI-103 or NVIDIA NCP-AAI only after you have built a few working agent projects.
Can I get an agentic AI certification without coding?
You can get foundational AI certifications without coding, such as Google Cloud Generative AI Leader or AWS Certified AI Practitioner, which have no prerequisites. Developer exams like AI-103, NVIDIA NCP-AAI and AWS Generative AI Developer Professional expect programming skills, mainly Python. If you want to build agents yourself, learning basic Python is the most useful first step.
What are the prerequisites for agentic AI certification?
Prerequisites depend on the exam. NVIDIA recommends one to two years of AI or ML experience for NCP-AAI. AWS recommends two or more years with AWS and one year with generative AI for its professional exam. Databricks recommends six or more months of hands-on work. AWS AI Practitioner and Google Cloud Generative AI Leader have no prerequisites.
How long does it take to prepare for an agentic AI certification?
Most people with basic Python can prepare for an intermediate exam in about eight weeks at eight to ten hours a week. Spend the first weeks on foundations and agent concepts, the middle weeks on the exam's platform, and the last weeks on safety, evaluation and practice questions. Beginners new to Python or the cloud should allow more time.
Is agentic AI certification worth it in India?
A certification is worth it in India when it matches the platform your target employers use and sits alongside real projects. It helps most for career switchers, freshers and staff at cloud partner firms, where certifications count. Product startups and senior roles care far more about what you have built than about any badge.
Do Indian employers ask for agentic AI certification?
Some do, especially IT services and partner firms that value Microsoft, AWS or Google certifications. Most employers treat a certification as a plus during shortlisting rather than a must. In interviews they test whether you can build, for example how you stop an agent calling the wrong tool, or how you measure whether it is improving.
Which matters more, certification or projects?
Projects matter more. A certificate shows you know the concepts, while a working agent on GitHub shows you can apply them, debug them and make trade-offs. The strongest profile combines one relevant certification with two or three well-documented projects, each with a clear README, simple tests and a short demo video.
What projects should I build to prove agentic AI skills?
Build projects that show a range of skills. Good choices are a customer support agent with a knowledge base, a document question-answering agent using RAG, a research agent that plans multi-step searches, a multi-agent workflow with planner, writer and reviewer roles, and an agent that connects to an MCP server. Document each one clearly on GitHub.
How do I prepare for an agentic AI certification exam?
Start with the official exam guide and turn each topic into a checklist. Learn LLM basics, tool calling, RAG, orchestration and MCP, then build small projects on the exam's platform. Add guardrails and evaluation, take the official practice questions, and book only when you score well more than once. Avoid leaked question dumps.
Does a course completion certificate count as certification?
Not in the same way. A course completion certificate shows you finished a training programme, while a vendor certification shows you passed a proctored exam set by the platform owner. Both have value. A good course certificate is strongest when it comes with real projects, and a vendor exam adds an extra, widely recognised signal.
Does Brolly Academy provide an agentic AI certificate?
Yes. Brolly Academy gives an Agentic AI course completion certificate for both online and classroom students of its three-month Agentic AI course in Hyderabad. It is a training certificate, not a vendor certification. The course includes six capstone projects and placement assistance, so you can build a portfolio and then sit a vendor exam if your career path needs one.
