About Cloud Security Training

Moving a workload to the cloud does not remove security responsibilities. The provider manages some layers, while the customer still makes important decisions about identity, data and configuration. This course turns that shared model into a practical review of a small cloud application.

This is a security-focused course, not a complete cloud-administration program or a promise of mastery across every provider. AWS and Azure examples illustrate core ideas. Confirm which platform will be used for hands-on labs and whether account or usage charges apply.

Use AWS shared responsibility guidance alongside the relevant modules. The practice examples on this page are original teaching scenarios, not claims of vendor approval or live client work.

Who Should Join?

Basic cloud, networking and operating-system knowledge is recommended. Administrators, DevOps learners and security analysts can use the path to connect configuration choices with practical risk.

Cloud Security Syllabus: 8 Practical Modules

Each module connects a concept to an exercise and an output you can explain. Work through the foundations before attempting the integrated project.

1. Shared responsibility and asset context

Map a sample workload and identify the controls owned by the provider and customer. Compare infrastructure and managed-service responsibilities. Produce a responsibility matrix tied to the chosen service, not a blanket assumption about all cloud products.

2. Identity and least privilege

Review users, roles, service identities and permission boundaries in a sandbox. Design access for a specific task and test that unrelated access is denied. Keep emergency access and credential handling part of the design.

3. Network boundaries and exposure

Map public and private components, permitted connections and management access. Review security groups or equivalent controls in the selected platform. Document an intended traffic path and verify it without exposing a lab resource unnecessarily.

4. Data protection and secrets

Classify synthetic information and choose suitable access and encryption controls. Discuss key ownership, secret storage and accidental sharing. Explain why enabling encryption does not compensate for an overly broad access policy.

5. Logging, monitoring and investigation

Identify identity, management-plane and workload logs needed for a scenario. Check that expected events are captured and accessible to the right role. Build an investigation note from a controlled configuration change.

6. Configuration and posture review

Review a small resource inventory against agreed baseline checks. Validate findings and identify exceptions. Separate a tool recommendation from a confirmed risk and keep the owner and remediation evidence with each decision.

7. Secure delivery and recovery

Discuss configuration-as-code review, approved changes, dependency awareness and backup testing. Keep secrets out of repositories. Create a rollback and cleanup checklist, including cost controls for temporary cloud resources.

8. Cloud security capstone

Combine identity, network, storage and logging decisions into one architecture review. Demonstrate permitted and denied actions with synthetic data. Present the residual risks, cost assumptions and operating responsibilities.

Discuss Your Learning Goals

Practical Skills You Will Develop

Use the exercises to build an explanation as well as a result. You should be able to show what you did, how you checked it and where the limits are.

Network boundaries and exposureMap public and private components, permitted connections and management access.

Data protection and secretsClassify synthetic information and choose suitable access and encryption controls.

Logging, monitoring and investigationIdentify identity, management-plane and workload logs needed for a scenario.

Configuration and posture reviewReview a small resource inventory against agreed baseline checks.

Tools and Lab Requirements

Practice only on systems you own or have explicit permission to use. The course outline uses isolated labs and synthetic data. Agree the software versions, access period, hardware requirements and any licence or cloud charges before enrolling. Never upload employer logs, credentials or personal evidence to a public tool.

AWS or Azure sandboxConfirm the primary platform, account ownership and permitted services for your batch.

Identity and logging consolesUse native permission and audit tools to connect configuration with observed behaviour.

Baseline and cost checklistsRecord settings, owners, exceptions, usage limits and cleanup responsibilities.

Keep Microsoft Sentinel overview available when checking an exercise. Use the instructions for your installed version and authorized access level.

Your Learning Roadmap

Build confidence in stages. Practice time and your starting knowledge matter as much as the number of scheduled sessions.

1. Set up and understandCheck the prerequisites and lab access. Complete the first two modules and explain the basic workflow in your own words.

2. Build and investigateWork through the middle modules. Keep notes of errors, what you tried and the evidence that supported a fix.

3. Test and presentComplete the final modules and an integrated scenario. Present your output, validation and a short handover guide.

3 Practical Project Scenarios

These are teaching scenarios using approved lab systems and synthetic data. They are not claims about live client work or previous student results.

Least-privilege reviewDesign a limited role for a fictional application and document successful and denied actions.

Protected storage scenarioReview a synthetic data store for public exposure, access, encryption and logging.

Cloud architecture assessmentDeliver a workload diagram, responsibility matrix, control checks and recovery/cleanup plan.

How the Skills Work in Practice

A sandbox application needs to read one storage location. Granting it broad administrator access may make the demo work, but it defeats the security objective.

Document the exact access the application needs, verify the permitted action and test a separate action that must remain denied. Include who reviews the permission later and how the temporary lab account will be cleaned up.

Where These Skills Are Used

These skills support cloud security analyst, security-focused cloud engineer, devsecops contributor. Employers combine technical knowledge with careful documentation, communication and responsible access. Your lab portfolio should show decisions, evidence and limitations, not claim that a training exercise was a live client engagement.

Interview and Portfolio Preparation

Prepare evidence you can discuss clearly. Label practice work as training work and do not present a teaching scenario as paid client experience.

Explain a projectDescribe the requirement, your decisions, the result and one limitation. Be ready to answer what you would change for a real deployment.

Show useful evidenceKeep approved files, test results and a concise README or runbook. Remove secrets and private information before sharing a portfolio.

Discuss support servicesAsk the academy which resume, mock-interview or job-search services are included in your batch. Placement assistance is not a job or salary guarantee.

Career Planning and Salary Expectations

Salary depends on the role, prior experience, location and the employer. A tool course alone does not establish a salary band. Compare recent job descriptions, required experience and responsibilities rather than relying on a headline income promise.

Meet the Trainer Through a Demo

Discuss the assigned trainer's relevant experience during a free demo. Ask how they would explain a practical cloud security problem and review your lab evidence.

Relevant experienceAsk for examples of work with Cloud Security that can be discussed without revealing confidential client information.

Practical explanationAsk the trainer to explain a failure scenario and how a learner would investigate it, rather than only showing a finished result.

Feedback and supportDiscuss how assignments are reviewed, how questions are handled and the support period included in the course.

Cloud Security Training FAQs

Does a cloud provider secure everything for me?

No. Responsibilities vary by service. Customer choices about identity, data and configuration remain important and must be mapped to the actual workload.

Will I learn AWS, Azure and Google Cloud in depth?

The outline teaches transferable principles with selected platform examples. Confirm the primary lab platform; the course does not promise full administration expertise in every cloud.

Are cloud usage costs included?

Do not assume they are. Ask for the account arrangements, included credits, spending limits and responsibility for ongoing charges before enrolment.

Is encryption enough to protect cloud data?

No. Access permissions, key handling, logging, backups and exposure also matter. Encryption does not fix an incorrectly shared resource.

Do I need a certification first?

A certificate is not required to discuss the course. Basic cloud and networking knowledge is more useful for following the labs.

Can I use my employer's cloud account?

Use the agreed training sandbox. Production accounts require explicit organizational approval and should not be used casually for course exercises.

What are the course fee and duration?

Contact Brolly Academy for the current batch quotation and timetable. Confirm instructor-led hours, practice time, lab access, taxes and any separate licence or exam charges in writing.

What certificate will I receive?

Ask for the Brolly Academy completion requirements and certificate wording for your batch. Course completion is separate from an independent vendor examination; no external credential or exam voucher is implied.
